    323i 0-60 time

    My sister just got a 00 323i and i was just wondering if anyone new the 0-60 time and 1/4 time. plus i am not sure how much hp it has. thx

    oh and i would like to know what the 325i has so i can see what the difference between the two are since they both have a 2.5L engine.

    E46 323 has 170hp, 181tq and according to car-stats.com has 0-60 of 7.2 and 1/4 of 15.7

    E46 325 has 184hp, 175tq and according to car-stats.com has 0-60 of 7 and 1/4 of 15.4

    not sure how reliable those 0-60 and 1/4 numbers are though... but the hp/tq numbers are correct

    Individual E46 copue, TS Opel Astra, Volkswagen Transporter.
    They are exactly the same engine, The 323 is just detuned, ie the 325 has been chipped.
    The reason behind this was in 1998-1999 BMW wanted some price preception, between the 323 and 328

    really so all someone has to do is get a new chip and it would be the same as a 325

    323 and 328 have the M52 TU engine
    325 and 330 have the M54 engine

    M54 have all M52 TU features with the addition of fully electronic throttle control and ehanced emission controls.

    Actually, The exhaust is different hence the drop in torque. The chip may be different, but it's not the reason for the different numbers.

    I ran my friend in his 325ci. I have a 323ci. The race was the closest thing i have ever seen. I am a good stick driver, as is he. The first race consisted of him getting a slight jump on me, but with each shift i began to reel him in, and eventually passed him at around 105. The 2nd race (which happened about 5000 miles later), We both got identical launches, and needless to say, it was the closest race i have ever been in. We raced all the way up to almost the peak in 4th gear, and i can honestly say that neither gained more than 2 inches on the other-it was a dead tie. So im not sure about the reason for the engine change, or if they just changed the higher number to get more sales, but these engines might as well be identical, because they sure dont perform any differently from eachother.
