1987 - 1991 M3 (E30) (1987 - 1991) The E30 M3 was developed by BMW M division to be an upgrade from the E30 3 Series. Using a S14 four-cylinder powerplant (upgraded from the M10) the car was known to be quite powerful and nimble for its time.

Behold, the E30 M3 Bubble Car

Thread with pics can be seen here:
http://www.bmwpugetsound.com/vbb/sho...threadid=27262

Full Directory of pics can be sen here:

Was going to post this in the E30 M3 section, but it admittedly gets very little traffic.

Have you READ the thread?

Have you SEEN how clean that car is?

Supposedly you can pour water on any part of the car and it will be safe to drink after.

The Bubble Car is a Bubble Car NO MORE. This is currently being beat to death on the E30 M3 SIG email list. The new owner put a 2.5L motor (with no compression brand new from a well-known BMW racing shop) and will track the car. It was an E30 M3 with just over 10k miles, and it was torn down and cleaned to be a Councours winner, then stored in a bubble at a BMW enthusiast/club racer's garage. He still owns about a dozen BMWs, not sure why he sold this one though.

The new owner is certainly allowed to do whatever he wants with it, but DAMN, if you're going to track an E30 M3, I know of 1000 cars that would have been much better suited to it than a practically BRAND SPANKIN NEW E30 M3.

Yes I agree, honestly it makes no sense to me paying $45k for a cleaner-than-showroom condition E30 M3 with only 11k miles on it and then tracking it, putting in a stroker, etc.

It's his money but I honestly think he should've kept it in the bubble, we would all be so lucky to see this car in perfect condition in 30 years... it was basically a perfect 1:1 die-cast model and now it's just another track rat.

yeah, saw it on the local board earlier today. I can't understand the logic of tracking that particular car, but whatever . . .

I have somewhat lightened my stance on the bubble car but I still feel it was ruined.

The owner of the bubble car (who I understand is named Gary) should have just sold it to BMWNA instead of this guy with more money than sense. Sure the new owner will have a nice car but he could've got it a lot cheaper just buying a run of the mill 100k mile M3 and doing the same thing... he just HAD to destroy the bubble car in the process. For shame I say.

Id probably drive it. What if there was a natural disaster that totalled the car? Id be pissed that I didnt take advantage of it while I could. You gotta think about the worst case scenario sometimes.

Read about this in a post on S14.net from the boyfriend of the daughter of the guy that bought the car. It's a shame. I can respect what the new owner is doing, but not to that car!

Turning that beautiful car into a track car is a crime.

What a complete dickhead for buying that car and tracking it. Any REAL enthusiast would have appreciated that car for a "show" piece. (yeah yeah show cars are teh ghey I know)...

Just because you have money doesn't mean you should ruin a PRICELESS item like that.

Technically, it's not priceless.
