E39 Q: Difficulty of Instrument cluster removal?

Anyone removed their E39 instrument cluster and taken it apart? On a 10-Banana scale, how would you rate it?

I'm pondering these "deluxe " aluminum gauge rings for inside.

Its very easy to get the cluster out... I'd say from a scale of 1-10 one being easy and ten hard... It's about a 2. Then to remove the POS cover is about a 7 without the proper tools. Took me about 30 minutes.

Groovy, thanks Grimpy. Define proper tools, what should I buy to make this easier?

a long skinny needle nose would be nice to have... You basically need to twist these stupid little plastic pieces so they all line up and the thing comes out...
