Talking DTM wiper Mod......

Ok I finally got the part back friday and installed it today. I'll be honest with you the install is a bitch. If you have ever had to remove the blower then you know what I am talking about. Installing the actual part takes about 10 mins but the rest took me about 2 1/2 hr and this is my second time doing it. Word to the wise. If you plan on doing this then take my advise do not try and run the wiper linkage outside to test the throw. I almost lost my left middle finger in the wiper motor when the linkage started slide off the side. Over all I think that it was worth it. The blade actually moves quicker. It covers the entire window. Check the pics and video's

This is the OEM wiper transmission...

This is the modified linkage after the install

If you are interested in doing this conversion I am willing to get a list together and do a group thing. The more the cheaper. But as it stands right now the part will cost $80.00 Let me know. PM me

Looks very good. I wouldn't think the install would be such a PITA but it looks worth it. How long is the wiper blade? Im guessing 20-24 inches?

It was a PITA because the space the you have to work in is limited. It is tough getting the blower motor out with out cracking the cages. Then the blower housing has to line up correct so it seals and the clips latch inside. If not then the vent door will not seal correctly. Basically just a lot of odd angles to work at.

the Blade is the OEM 23"

LOL

single wiper conversion? MOST the times are less efficient and often called rice....but to each his own and it's definitely different/unique. Not my cup of tea, but at least your car sticks out now

Cool mod and congrats. To the last guy who posted rice. WTF are you talking about. The other car I've ever seen this on is a Mercedes as original equipment.

I think he's referring to the guys that just take off one of the wipers.

This design was orig. offered by AC Schnitzer for the e34 S5. But due the fact that a limited number were made and my losing a few on German eBay I decided to fab my own. But to each there own. Plus the ricer boys like mentioned only pull one wiper off and it doesn't clear the entire window...only thepassenger side.

If that is case then the post makes even less sense. The pictures show that this a pretty involved mod and is designed for a specific objective. There may be a debate if it actually improves the function of the wipers, but he'll find out the first rainy day. I still think it's cool and I hope it works.

The blade covers the entire window and I have actually tested it sat inside while having H2O sprayed while wiping and it seem better than OEM. No longer get that passenger water line on the driver side. But mostly it has given me an addition 20 hp I think.

I did watch the video. It will work different driving down the road with air flowing over the car. Besides the HP gain don't forget the lower c/d ratio, good for god knows how much top end!

I was wondering what a DTM Wiper was... but hey, this is the first time I've seen such a conversion. Never would have thought of this. Nice job

I know a guy who did this to his E30 M3. No one that has seen the car liked the single wiper.

I really hope that works well, because you did a great job. Noone is asking the rest of you naysayers to do it to your car, so don't worry.

Anytime someone does something new, there is a lot of resistance to it, and I don't care if you love it or hate it, the forum benefits from the new bit of information added to it. If people didn't try new things, the forum would stagnate and probably would become pretty boring.
