My friend has had his mom's car (X5 4.4i) for about a week while he was doing an engine swap on his '93 325i. So we decided we'd have a go at it just to see how many carlengths he could pull on me.
He stops, I pull up next to him. I am by myself on a quarter tank w/ my spare out while he has somebody in the passenger seat and 3/4 tank. I rev it up to 2.5k rpm he counts down and we both launch. This was the only time I've raced from a launch just getting the car 2 months ago, and one of my few launches I've ever done, and its a shitty one. I leave about a 15 foot, 2 tire patch (LSD) but still manage to get about 1/2 car on him. I shift to 2nd and chirp 'em but still have the stock shifter. He starts pulling on me little by little and when we finally shut down at about 80-90, he had about 2-3 cars on me.
We pull up next to each other at the highway up ahead and he's got his jaw dropped laughing going wtf just happened. "What the hell, I thought this thing would destroy you," he says. "I thought so too." We just laugh and drive back to his house.
We all thought he would easily blow by me and put 5 cars on me. It was very weird. As a side note, my car is an '86 325es, bored to about 2.75-2.8L, oversized valves, port job. All I can say is that I can't wait for the chip. Also, it was very cold out, which my car seems to just love. I can tell a substantial difference. It just runs like complete crap when it's hot out.

I was kind of shocked, but it doesn't seem like anybody else is, or do most of you guys not believe what happened?? People with modded eta's, I wanna hear some kill stories. I know they'll be minor, but whatever.
I once killed my buddy in an 1997/8 Eclipse RS, with my 1984 325e (since given away). Both cars were stock. Both had stick-shifts. His car has the stock non-turbo 2-litre engine, with 140 hp, vs my car's 121 hp Guess the 170lb.ft of torque really helped, huh. Plus, I guess my car was lighter, since most of its paint had flaked away
Both sold. Now: Black 94 E34 530i-5sp
I find it hard to believe you left a 15 ft patch in an eta, unless you had some seriously bad tires.
2.8l what u puttin out 130 bhp-2800lbs
4.4 l 4400lbs
i could see it
FOR SALE - 14900/ will trade for e36 m3/ 325/8 for e39 540i
BS87, not to sound like a dick, but I could take a pic if you'd like, and I only dropped it from around 2300-2500, however, yes, I am on a very "tready" tire right now, they spin very easily with the torque of the car.
Theelsman11, yeah, my guess is about that, 130hp and probably somewhere around 180-185 lb.-ft. I just can't wait until I have that chip. The gains and the graphs look nice.
what does your Eta rev to and have you changed the cam and valve springs?Originally Posted by MR325es
It revs to 5000rpm right now, but will rev to 5300rpm with the chip. No, I don't have an upgraded cam, springs, retainers, etc. I'm hoping for that to be a spring project.
2.8L I can maybe see, i must have missed that part. There is no way a stock eta can drop a 15ft patch though, heh.
clipse RSs have like 100 hpOriginally Posted by Carzzi

and liek 100 hp
Stock 2.7s get like 90-97hp to the wheels.
Mine is stock except for the 325i Intake manifold, Throttle body, exhaust manifolds and a magnaflow and I've killed stock civics like they were nothing... Those are the only cars I can beatPeople with modded eta's, I wanna hear some kill stories
I almost beat a corrolla but after about 75 it walked me
That seems really weird, a 4 banger beating you. I also kept up with my friends '93 325is, auto however, 55-80 when he came to pass me, no ground was gained by any two of us at all.
Oh yeah, and 4cly VWs are nothing too.
Eta's are sllooooow engines, so.... you know.. No surprise about the
corrolla.
