Killed a GTi VR6 on the interstate

so i was coming home from Best Buy with my 2 friends, both totaling about 350lbs, plus me (250) and i come up along side the Gti. He had 2 passengers as well, both hot chicks ,

i could def tell he wanted to race by the way he reacted to me passing him, he got right on me and followed me. soooo

we finally got to a good long stretch and he pulls up beside me, 70 mph, me in 3rd gear and i hear him go W0T so i hit it. I slowly walk past him, by about 100 i had about 2CL on him. Pretty quick cars those GTi's. We did the same thing about 4 or 5 different times, all the same outcome.

    I have a AA tuning GEN2

haha, tell him his car sucks. And then tell him to run you, any kinda of test, roll on, from a stop, then hand him his ass on a silver platter

I told him that already, and he just looked at me with this aire of cluelessness...he's already going through midlife crisis though...I think I should at least let him continue life with his conception of adequecy...man...so many kills (see laws to break), so little time...

awesome run, those vr6's give me nothing by trouble
but why do you weigh 250lbs? are you 6'5"?

the reason i ask is that MANY drivers spend money
on their cars, and forget about themselves...600 bux
for a driving class doesn't seem much if it'll help u push
your tires to thier max limits. same with weight. i believe
every 7lbs lost is like adding one hp? (i *think* that's from
    european car's m3 article)

Any idea if it was a MK3 or MK4?

MK3 has 172 HP stock, and a MK4 (24v) has 200 HP stock. Both are hard to get good gains from unless you give them boost. The current craze in the VW camp is the 1.8t.

A passat which is heavier than a GTI or Jetta can and will do a 14.7 in the 1/4 with a good driver, and only a simple APR, or Garret chip. I have been at import drags and watched MK4 GTI 1.8t's (with only a chip) get 14.5s down the strip. not too shabby for a front wheel drive german car.

I want a 6 Cylinder German car again, (had a VR6) I am after BMW for my fix though, they seem to produce good power from the factory, and can do quite a bit with what they have..

I wish I could have been able to listen to that race.. The VR6 and BMW M engines are my two favorite sounding in the current market.

Err sorry, I just came from a VW forum and well used VW talk..
MK4 is the 4th generation (current).

I forgot an other VR6, the R32, but they are not considered a GTI by VW , they produce 240 HP stock.

You can get me back.. just use some less known BMW acronym speak, I get lost quite fast.. I gotta learn since I intend to buy one.

Agreed...and put boost on one and you'll be amazed.

    I still am.

Nice kill bro. The stock VR6 is a nice motor...but remember, a "new" gti could still have a 12v vr6 (if it wasn't BRAND NEW).
A year or two back they still made the 174HP mk4 gti...the 200hp (24V vr6) is a nice motor but a bit disappointing (IMO) for having twice as many valves...
I really expected more. But as someone else here said, you gotta put some $$$ into that motor to make it work for you...

Nice kill, billy boy. I race one from time to time. This guy that works next to my job has a black gti vr6. it's hooked up and has superman's "S" decal on the back, nice twin exhaust. I don't know what else he has. On our way home, highway driving, we race up to 120 before hitting twisties. His car has lots of torque. Our low-end seems similiar, but he starts to walk me at the top ranges, but when I'm in higher rpms, I start creeping up again - that was before I was sharked and didn't have a CAI yet. I plan on getting UUC pulleys soon. I also need to install the M50 manifold and get a free flow catback to help gain some hp at the mid and top ranges. I've been leaving a little early lately to go to school... so I haven't raced him lately. I need to run with him again. Will post whenever that happens. Hope he didn't super or turbocharge that beyotch.

Engine: M3 (S52) motor | AA C38 stg 1 Supercharger | MLS HG + ARP studs | M50 manifold | UUC motor and tranny mounts
Drivetrain: 3.38 LSD | UUC stg 2 clutch | UUC 8.5 lb flywheel | SS Clutch line | Z3 steering rack | M3 brakes | SS brake lines
Suspension: X-Brace | Bilstein BTS | PowerFlex RTABS | Exhaust: AA track pipe | AA Gen III Exhaust
Misc: Euro G4 Ellipsoids-Ultra HD 60+ LED eyes | Euro 3-Spoke steering wheel | tan Vaders |CD43 player
