Wink Air intake heat shield DIY

I've just finished making my very own heat shield. Hope some of these pictures can help those who wanted to do it. I used a plastic cardboard measure and cutted to fit. Make sure there is no gap. So the hot air can't go thru it. Then use the sponge with aluminum foil (purpose is to reject the heat from the engine) to glue them together with the plastic cardboard and cut into shape. Finally fix everything in place.
I use a computer's temperature sensor to test it. It reduce 10 degree celciuos after installed the heatshield on idling. It will reduce more when driving ofcause....

nice work - paint it black and put a rubber edge around it and it'll be perfect.

I can't paint it, because the plastic is soft. The paint will crack and peel off piece by piece. Also the sponge is too thick to put the rubber edge. But thanks anyway

What about that Krylon (sp?) spray paint? It is supposed to bond, molecularly, to plastic.

Have you felt a difference on the butt dyno with the headshield installed?

I'm not sure where to buy the krylon sp.? Actually I haven't test drive it yet. Just tested at idle with the bonnet closed. Because I've just finished installed it few hours ago. Maybe will try tommorrow, it is too late to test....12pm at night now in Malaysia...

By the way how can I put an Avatar on the forum?
