This is a follow-up to a previous thread. These are photos of my s/belt guide fix. There are some differences in my 2001 Z3 versus the earlier models as you will see.
This is the seat with the leather partially pulled back from the seat. I did not know what to do to gain access to the s/belt guide until I saw the post from Sdmike1 which appeared on Venni's thread entitled "Seat belt guide fix". Thanks to both of you for making this DIY project possible for me.
There were no straps attached to hog rings. Instead there were just 4 clamps (for lack of the correct word) clamped onto the 2 red metal rods running vertical on the back side of the flexible seat foam that fits inside the metal frame. The pics show the claps both closed & open on the metal rods.

Foam Seat Back still attached to the metal frame

Foam Seat Back removed/separated from the metal frame. Note the black plastic piece sits on the head rest of the seat foam. I think it is there to help hold the shape of the head rest. I used some masking tape to keep it attached to the foam before fitting the leather skin back onto the foam.

This is the black plastic piece removed from the foam head rest so I could access the seat belt guide.
Seat back separated from frame
Head rest foam support with leather skin pulled back to access the s/belt guide that is sewn into the leather.
The finished product. I hope this helps anyone doing the infamous S/belt guide fix. .
Great job--very informative.
Great job but I am at a loss as to why you basically disassembled the entire seat. I also have a non M roadster and was able to replace the guide in 2 minutes from the point where you were in your other thread. I slid my hand behind the leather with the washer and pressed the new guide in with the other hand. Did you run into other issues?

Not really. A ton of rain, lots of wind for about 15 hours and I haven't seen the sun since Saturday but other than an outside clock that blew over and broke, we lucked out. I had the generator plugged into the house ready to go and an additional 25 gallons of gas ready but in the end, nothing much to write home about. Never even a flicker in the lights.
