Yea, you have to take out the plastic tube thing that is the baffle. The easiest way is to remove the airbox (takes about a min) Then you will see a small plastic tab on one of the sides (dont know which.) Push the tab in and then the baffle should just slide right out.

i tried everything pushing down the circle thing on the top .. but i think its like attached to the bottom of the box. if you look closely you might be able to tell where i think its attached. seems like the end of the baffle (back of box) there is something coming from the bottom of the box and attached to the baffle

What does the "de baffle" process actually do?
    Better air flow....better sound?

looks at this pic..you can see the air flow has to go different shapes from smaller to bigger then finally reaches the outlet.

miss my rieger 3, but love my new S2000!
    holy triple post batman!!!

so you guys just removed the trumpet piece then? and thats it?

and it made it louder huh? kind of that subtle, nice loud i'd assume( i know subtle and loud don't exactly go together, but that's the best way i can describe it ).

have you run into any issues by doing this? i guess if you're air filter is clean that you probably wont be running into any issues huh?

oh, one more thing: is the baffle there just to reduce noise or is it there for another engineering purpose?

I'd be interested in this too. This does nothing but modify the sound of the car I take it? Also, you can just as easily put it back to normal if you don't like the sound right? Since you got it working p3ersian maybe you want to explain what exactly you did for the newbs.

It's an easy 10 minute mod. I did mine this morning. Simply remove the airbox and unsnap the baffle. Removed the snorkel leading into the box and replace the airbox. You now have a larger intake pre-filter that allows more air passage and there is a subtly louder intake noise that is noticable around 3k and up. It totally pieces back together in 5 minutes if you change your mind :

    Good job P3rsian and Igotmy18's!

Funny thing.. when i debaffled my airbox and put a K&N drop -in filter in I noticed about the same gains as my old short ram cold air intake. Debaffling has to be one of the best free mods you can do IMO -
