pics of 3 NEW mods done in same day!

well i finally got some things accomplished.

1st off i got my new radio (Clarion DXZ845MC) and got rid of my old junker (Sony POS <--- and yes i think that is the actually model # too )

next thing i did was install a 7" farenheit widescreen headrest TV in the console (taking the place of the OBC and sunglass holder) very similar to Jubu (much thanks to you Jubu as it was your thread that lead me to doing this so soon. if it would not have been this easy i would have put it off until later and custom fabricated a new console with plexiglass)

here is some pics of the new radio and TV installed:

and for the 3rd mod i installed a set of xtek 5000k HIDs in my ZKW. these are SOOO bright and beautiful. they light up the whole world (thanks to matt for these and the great price.)

also i would like to note that up until i removed the OBC to install the TV i did NOT get a LBF error reading :

here are a few snap shots of the HIDs at work:

during the daylight...

well they aren't the bluish lights but not really greaan. i guess a regular camera can't exactly capture the true light output they emit. but i LOVE these HIDs (and this is NOT the 1st time i have had a car with HIDs, my last 2 vehicles -'02 Maxima & '00 Infiniti I30t - have had factory HIDs and this kit emits light on par with them)

the light output to the ground is very WHITE.. notice the 2nd pic in post #3

Yea the monitor is a different model, but that headrest shroud looks exactly the same...And I'm sure it's the same dimensions as well.

I swear, that headrest shroud from Farenheit is "God-sent." Makes it so easy.

Are you getting any alternator whine issues with the Clarion headunit? I'm still trying to solve mine... :

looks good...i like the placement of the screen.

maybe one day ill go back to something like that i had a motorized, flip out HU monitor....but i really like the placement of the stationary one.

its about the same placement as the new 3 series have if you get navi.

So does that mean you're gettin a "bit" of alternator whine? I just wanna know if others are having the same small problem with their Clarion unit as well.

I'm getting just a bit...barely noticeable at very low volumes, but I'm one of those people that notices every little thing so it's just really annoying....

i am still trying to get back to the level of I.C.E. i had in that car (i was close to about 12G in equip and custom work in the I.C.E. alone

actually now that i think about it all i really get now is a little bit of an "airy" like noise (but that is when there is a pause b/w music)

alt whine is gone (or at least i haven't yet noticed it, but i have been driving around with the new HU installed for 3 days now so i think it is gone)

well my OBC is going in an ODD place and requires lots of time, patience, skill, and more $$$ then most other spots (but it remains highly visible)

i am custom mounting it in the rear view mirror (while keeping the mirror AND the OBC fully functional)

Congrats, nice work, I love LCD screens.

I don't understand how you're going to mount the OBC in the rear view mirrow.

I never did much of a write-up since all I had to do was cut the headrest shroud and sunglass tray. But here's a link to my thread anyways...

yeah i just knew that he said it fit PERFECTLY! so i went ahead and took his word on it.

all i did was cut the sunglass tray where the indention was across the bottom of the hole then trim down the surround of the TV's shroud. just pushes directly in and stays there. easiest install i have ever done.

well 1st off i am going to use a mirror from a camaro/firebird (the one with the reading lamps on the bottom of the mirror) since it is deeper internally and i am going to take the circuit board that has the lights and the display and extend the wires from the other circuit board. i will cut away part of the glass on the mirror so the display can shine through.

i have had a friend do a similar thing with an Alpine ERAG320 EQ display for a MB ML320 not too long ago. this is VERY doable and is along the same idea of the "V1 invisi-mirror"

hope i get enough time to work on this project (as it was i did all 3 of these mods at night b/c that was the only time i had free to do it)

me either.. other than the OBC relocation and the wiring of my Euro switch i am just going to get wild and start/finish my crazy custom fabricated trunk install

maybe 20 mins tops

that included me removing my OBC/sunglass holder, triming down TV's shroud and sunglass holder, connecting the wires and snapping it into place. VERY simple job. has to be one of the easiest jobs ever done with such a nice outcome.

absolutely.. you can hook anything with RCA outputs to it.

the "brain" (if you will) for the LCD screen has 2 sets of A/V inputs and 1 output for audio. so you can hook up 2 media units.

i am using my Alpine TV tuner as 1 of my source units (best thing about this is that it has 4 additional A/V inputs and can show 3 different video outputs to 3 different screens at 1 time.) my limits are endless
