Hi everyone,
I'm mostly a lurker on this board, but the time has come to part with my '91 M5. I have six other BMWs at the moment, and too many of them require attention. It's Brilliantrot/Black Nappa, 161k miles.
I'm the third owner of the car, having bought it from a friend. It's been a CA car all of it's life. The paint is in good shape, with some road rash up front, and a couple of scratches. The interior is OK; everything is there and works, but the back seats do have some marks, perhaps from cigarettes? The car does not smell smoked in, and the upholstery is not burned through.
In the interest of full disclosure: the car has a salvage title. I don't know why. There's no obvious repairing of frame or bodywork, nothing that screamed salvage title when I bought it or after poking around everything I could since I brought it home. I was told it was because of a snafu with the DMV; I suppose that's possible. I've been happy with the condition of the car, but understand this will scare some folks off. I'd encourage you to come check it out for yourself.
The car runs well, passes smog fine, AC blows cold, shifts and drives fine.
Asking price is $6k/obo. I apologize for not posting pictures: As a lurker, I don't have enough posts credited to link images.

Thanks, StormshadO, I'll give it a try.
Unfortunately, the forum didn't like my links - I'm still too new. Guess I'll rely on folks to get in touch for the time being. Appreciate the help!

Thanks, TGreene. I think so too, but I'm the seller. Trying to make allowances for the salvage title, but ultimately, the market will decide what the car is really worth.

Thanks Danios. Truthfully, I do not need any more cars. But you're welcome to come look, and I'm happy to trade for cash, although I have a feeling that's not what you had in mind...

Unfortunately, not. I don't have enough posts to enable PM yet, but if you PM me, I can email you back. This whole "not enough posts" thing makes me feel like I'm 15 with no driver's license again. Sheesh. No records, sadly. You're welcome to inspect anything you want (as far as the car goes) as long as you're paying the tech bill.

You should be asking more for this car
I really want this... I may have to check it out this weekend if it's still around.
Kalevera - perhaps, but if I were the buyer, I would require a pretty significant discount for the title issue, so I've tried to adjust that into the price accordingly. If someone wants to give me more; tips are certainly accepted.
VadGTI - hard to say, not to sound opportunist, but money talks, if you're the first one here with cash you may get lucky. In any case, I'd be happy to show you the car. Drop me a line...

Hey guys, just wanted to bump this thread for Brian (the owner). I saw this car yesterday, and although I decided to go another way (test drove an e39 m5 today and can't say no to that v8), his e34 was really in phenomenal shape. Really nice clean car, truly no evidence of any accident damage whatsoever. It drove nicely, really no red flags of any sort. The owner is a very nice guy, BMW CCA member with several ongoing BMW projects, really an enthusiast who was 100% upfront about the car and has priced it very fairly. Someone will get a great deal on this m5.

im stationed in Korea atm. but any idea what shipping to 78148 would cost. im extremely intrested. my seperation pay alone would take care of $6k.
Thanks Dan for your kind words and feedback. I have a feeling you'll love the e39 M5...
Since the car has been posted a week I'll do a modest price drop of 5% to $5,700. I'd love to have the car sold by labor day.
AndyMpire - the last time I shipped a car to Texas, it was about $600.
Thanks everyone!

Great deal... Even with the mileage... I could refresh the head and suspension and sell it to someone here in New England for almost triple!
Great deal here people. Glws
