I'm not sure if this works for US cars as well but you may find a way to get the US site to give the same results.....
Following these instructions courtesy of the BMW Owner's Club:
1> Click http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/homepage/
2> From the BMW Owner Area menu, choose Genuine BMW Parts
3> From the menu on the left had side of the page click Parts Catalogue
4> From the lower part of the screen click Electronic parts catalogue. Find genuine spare parts and accessories for your BMW.
5> Use the username eu111111 and the password bmwetk1
6> Enter the last 7 digits of your VIN number and click >>
7> From the top of the next window, click Options. This displays a new window with the information on extras.
If you have a rare enough model such as the 73 RHD S54 Roady's that were built then you can compile the following summary:
RHD S54 Z3m BMW webETK Database Vehicle Specifications Summary & Detail by VIN - Jonttt May 2012

Worked perfect for me as well. My Coupe is a US car.
Interesting as it states I have a "Door mirror / driver's lock, heated" which I never knew I had (heated that is).
Thanks for the link,

Worked great for both my cars!
I especially like the power info they have for the cars. They are both very realistic i would say.
