No longer a feeler but has been done.

The light output with the led I have found puts out about the same as a maglite

All information on led type and battery type will be kept to myself

Light led light puts out 226 lumens

Price of the light is 69 shipped

    Expensive I know...

    Price layout
    Led - 22
    Battery - 30
    Flashlight - 5
    Shipping - 6
Profit - 12 (its a lot of work)

    PayPal - germanraiders at aol

I must add that the light is much brighter in person then the pictures... my iphone just cant pick the light up enough to show it

Pictures - coming soon ! I will be taking the pictures with my iPhone but at bimmerfest I'm going to ask someone to take a picture of it at night on a good camera

finding flashlights might be a bitch if you start selling a lot, what if i send you my flashlight and you fix it up really nice ? doable, pricing? it will still be rechargeable correct?

I would think thats probably the best way to make this work. So if you ship yours to me that means i could take the 5 off for me buying it. so 30 shipped

I would be interested also. I have been needing a new flashlight for a while now. This would be a great upgrade. I would ship my old one to you if needed as well.

Can you actually use a phone battery with the existing charging system? I thought the original batteries were Ni-Cd or something else ancient like that.

Also, how bright will it be?

ATM im waiting on the LED's i bought off ebay to arrive.

I looked into the CREE LEDS and they are a little high on price but seem to have great output. purchase a couple to see how they turn out.

Once i make the first one i will see if i like the brightness. (I have led maglite flashlights so thats the brightness im comparing them too)

Yep, we (I work for Cree) are expensive but we're an American manufacturer and we put out a quality product.

Got some 5mm leds in the mail... there bright but not the brightness im looking for. Maybe if I glued 3 of them togethor it will work out. But it wont look clean so I think im going to look into a new bulb. Need something around 10mm wide. Also still waiting on the cree leds

I'm interested, and will be watching this thread.
Were you looking at using a single high power Luxeon from Cree or an array of weaker LEDs?

Well I figured this out ...

The led type and brand I won't mention but will costs roughly 22 dollars

and the batteries run about 30

Problem is that to make some profit and cost of shipping and cost of the light itself, it's going to run about 70 per light

Pretty high price but if people want it make each light will be made to order

I will post pictures of the final product tomorrow

The light output is roughly the same as a maglite

Thanks and sorry for the wait

    Suck
In the meantime, BMW beat you to the punch:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-3-Series...8edfe1&vxp=mtr

    Item # 261163507681

It's an LED flashlight that sits in a cigarette lighter.

They had those for sale for the past two years.

To add They are as bright as those 5 dollar ones you see next to the cash registers at most stores.

I read into the for sale add to find it puts out 10 lumens

    Mine puts out 226 lumens
