X3, X5 & X6 (E53, E70, E71, E83) (2000 - current) BMW invented a new word when they introduced their SUVs to the world: Sport Activity Vehicle. Sportier and with more car like agility than the standard SUV, with all of the hauling perks for a more active lifestyle. Introduced in 1996, the X5 continues to be a hit. The younger sibling, the X3, was born in 2003.

When I drove the X5... it was a 4.4L. It was about a year ago now when they first came out. That thing really hauled especially on the track... I thought I was going to flip it at first... but the thing had more of a tendency to oversteer than lean.

I wish... at least for the memories. Those X5s are awesome vehicles. We did a 25 (average) second auto-x. It was a blast... we got like 4 runs.

This was held at the Gulfstream Racetrack. It's a Horsetrack with a huge huge parking lot with no stones and realatively smooth surface. They had 5 or 6 track running with 10-15 people per track and 4 X5s per track. It was the BMW event... it was awesome.

That V8 engine has plenty of torque. Awesome to drive. It was a blast watching the professional driving haulin' around in this SAV. I thought first time they did the hotlap they were going to flip...

When I have to haul stuff... I'm getting an 4.6is. I can't wait until they start driving on the road and some punk kid in a rice mobil tries to outpower one from a stop light.

Isn't that the greatest feeling? It's SO gratifying to beat ricers.

Prom night, I was driving home in the X5 with my then g/f (now ex g/f) and some stupid Accord, riced out, wing, exhaust, wheels, and FUGLY kit pulls up next to me and starts reving his engine. I'm a thinking, oh man, this is gonna score me extra points later on tonight Well, I kicked the shift knob into sport mode and bam, I was gone and all he could do was listen to his lawnmower try to catch up : as a matter of fact I think a Mustang GT that was behind me ended up passing him up too :

I wish BMW would have given the 4.6 10 more HP so they could de-thrown Cadalliac from the most powerful SUV on the planet.

I wonder how hard it would be to s/c or turbo the 4.6 engine.....cuz then you'd def. have the worlds FASTEST SUV :

I'm sure DINAN will come up for some sort of supercharger for it. After all, it's the same engine as a 540i (or close anyway). I wonder if it uses a single intake like a 540i or a dual intake like a M5.

A supercharged X5 4.6is ... that would be so insane. :
