To Socal 8 Members or anyone else wishing to attend,
This is a survey to see how many would like to attend this special event that is being spearheaded by Ralph Rodheim. If we get enough members wishing to attend we can make final preparations and go forward. Please let us know here if you would like to attend for a 8 head count. This is a very special event for our group.
Lyon Air Museum, a premier Southern California showcase for vintage military aircraft and automobiles, monthly invites select car clubs such as ours to play host for a “Cars & Cockpits Day,” These events are scheduled for the first Sunday of each month.
2011 has been a huge success and we have reserved April 1, 2012 for our 8’s. The event takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 at Lyon Air Museum, located near John Wayne Airport in Orange County. The Museum address is: 19300 Ike Jones Rd, Santa Ana, CA 92707. At 11:30
We will then drive to the Crevier classic car collection then lunch at Durty Nellie’s and if we want after lunch a little drive down the coast to view a private car collection not shown to the public.
At Lyon Air Museum our owners can compare our cars with the Museum’s own stable of vintage luxury vehicles, including a 1939 Mercedes-Benz Model G4 Offener Touring Wagon (used by the Fuhrer himself), a 1947 V-12 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet, and a 1941 Cadillac Series 62 convertible sedan (originally owned by New York socialite Princess Diane Eristavi).
The 30,000-sq.ft Lyon Air Museum opened in Dec. 2009. The facility represents the fulfillment of a dream of Maj. Gen. William Lyon, USAF (Ret), who held the position of Chief of the U.S. Air Force Reserve from 1975 to 1979. Currently, Gen. Lyon is Chairman of the Board and CEO of William Lyon Homes, Inc., Newport Beach, Calif. His passion for aviation history and youth education is the driving force behind Lyon Air Museum. In establishing the museum, Gen. Lyon sought to create a world-class facility that would be available to the local community and would offer interactive educational exhibits designed to inspire young people. The Museum has on exhibit some of the world’s rarest operational aircraft and vehicles.
Lyon Air Museum looks forward to making our gathering unique and exciting.
