8 Series (E31) (1991 - 1997) As the last E24 rolled off the production line in 1989, its replacement was quick on its heels to fulfill the fantasies of those looking for a touring coupe with all of the luxury, performance, and prestige of a BMW, only now with both 8 and 12 cylinder engines.

Where to get aftermarket E31 parts?!

I'm new to BMW's, especially the 8-series which is what I want for a daily drive so I can park my single-turbo Supra. I've looked at the Bavarian Autosports website and there was a very small amount of aftermarket parts for the E31. I'm specifically looking for lowering springs, shocks, exhaust, intake, aerodynamics ...that sort of thing. Nothing to special since I still want this to be my daily driver. This looks like a great community. I hope to become part of it fairly soon!

Here is a good place for Info on models and numbers

http://www.e31.net/english.html

This is a list of model year changes/differences

http://www.8-fest.com/img/LC8Images/1992_97Y2YChngs.pdf

Modifications are rather slim pickings because there are not enough E31s in the US to support a lot of shops.

Lowering springs H&R(in mine), Dinan (I have a set I may get around to selling some day)

K-Mac camber plates

Grunts Poly bushings for several points (Land of OZ)

Chips Conforti, Dinan -(I have European chips available for OBD1 cars here from a friend in Europe for about 25-30 HP).

No one that I know has found an intake that doesn't loose HP on the Dyno!

Exausts are pricey ($1400 or so) or do it yourself types by changing mufflers. X-pipe costs 15 HP!

Aero pieces are available but really pricey too. I like mine as the designer envisioned it so I am only doing things that can't be seen-other than the wheels of course.

Most of the 8 owners on line hangout at this place http://bimmer.roadfly.org/bmw/forums/e31/

This forum is more fun to play on because of the diversity but that one is dedicated to 8s.
