Hey all!
After poking around in the other forums, I was inspired by the E46 guys who are having a Secret Santa for the fifth year. This seems like a really good idea to bring the Spirit of Christmas and more fun here to our subforum. We are getting a bit of a later start on them, but I think with our level of activity, we can still have a good time.
For those of you don't know what Secret Santa is....
In Secret Santa, everyone puts their name into a "hat". Once all the names are in the hat, each person draws a name. They buy that person a small, thoughtful gift in the spirit of their community or relationship. This is a great way to have a fun surprise around the holidays. Those who flake out and don't buy a gift for their Secret Santa are forever branded a Grinch and generally are not welcome in future Secret Santa parties...

Our process will be similar to the E46 guys because they have had a few years to work it out and done a great job managing the process with few hick-ups. So with respect and credit to them, I am going to use much of their format.
THE 2011 E38 (and friends) SECRET SANTA EVENT
Our process will be as follows. I will collect all the names according to the instructions below. As I receive the Names and Addresses via email I will put your name on the list. I won't add you to the list until I get a EMAIL with the information.
Once all the names are collected, on Dec 1st I will close the list and pass out the names. Only you will know your Secret Santa's address. Keep in mind that some of our members are in Canada and overseas. If you are unwilling to mail gifts international (expect added costs) please not that in your email to me, other wise you may get someone in a far off land with added cost to ship. So just let me know... Our budget is $20, I think this is enough to get a nice thoughtful give and not break the bank. With shipping this should keep everyone around $25-ish ($30-ish for international)
There is no obligation to participate, its just for fun.
Also, keep the gifts in relative good taste. Many of these will be opened in front of families, so keep that in mind.
After all the names are distributed you will have until the 15th to mail your gift off. Once you do, you will be expected to let me know. If by the 15th you have not mailed your gift out, just please let me know!!! I will not be participating the the list itself because I will know who is going to get "me", so its not much of a secret. Instead I will be "Rescue Santa". If you can't get the gift out in time, you fall on financial straights, or just plain forget, don't sweat it and just let me know. I will do my best to make sure everyone has a good time.
On Dec 26th, I will post up everyone's respective Secret Santa's and we can all post up pictures of our loot!

Well, it is an E38 sub forum thing but I would say we are open to friendly interlopers.
Just wanted to keep it to the "friends and family" we all know from the board in hopes to keep it familiar. But again, open to friends.
