A long time ago I mentioned hearing of a Baur on the southside of ATL parked in disrepair. Found the pics from June 2007.
The following is quoted from the Google map of Baur TC1s in the US:
'and a purple one a few years agoUpdated Jan 15
Bruce H said there was a white one in Atlanta
…….. and a purple one a few years ago "
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=...665,157.324219
Check the pins in the Atlanta area to find this. And now we have some pics, thanks to you, Bruce!! Woo hoo! Is this the one you referred to as 'purple"? It is hard to tell from the pic, but it looks close enough for me!
Fantastic find, Bruce!! Any way to get a location on that?
Bear in mind, we (actually Tom D!!) located the "Baur in the Bush on the Beach" in Fort Bragg CA by the coordinates (longitude/latitude) recorded by the camera.
Also, I recently found a 2002 Baur on a street in North Philadelphia by surfing "Street View" .... and there it was!
So any kind of locating info could help us find it.
Thanks for posting this!

I never saw it. It was described to me as "purple" and on the southside of ATL.

I'll ask Jason Rose of Heritage Motorsports to see if he knows the car. Jason has been wrenching on old BMW's on the southside for some years and maybe has run across it.

I didn't take them. Lost contact with the teenager who did. He was, I believe, a short time e21 fan.
>>>Harry, car was parked for years at a ghetto gas station for non payment of bill. I doubt that it crossed paths with a reputable BMW shop.
Looks like it is worth a shot! Thanks, Harry!

Any idea on what ghetto shop?

Although the light is terrible, that fading, discolored paint resembles my Lapisblau Baur.
I have a friend in GA, I may see if he can tell us anything about that plate. The pic is from June 2007, so everything may have expired. Looks like there may be a church across the street.
Single tail pipe, so it is not a 323i.

It was described as "purple". Given the custom interior a purple paint job wouldn't surprise me. I was told that the car had been sitting for quite a while when this pic was snapped in 07. No idea on the shop. I'd suspect that it has passed on to the great Baur Platz.....
That may well be the case.
However, thanks to your pics, we now know that what was once a rumor, now has form and substance. The Baur exists, or at least, it did exist in June 2007. And that is a start!
We know that there is, or at least there was in June 2007, a bluish-purple Baur at a garage in south Atlanta. It had a single tail pipe, which makes it either an M10 or an M20 320/6. It appears to have had a tan/beige vinyl or leather interior. We know that it had a Georgia plate (1385 ADP) from DeKalb County, and it had euro bumpers, with the euro-style license plate mount. Zender rear skirt and a trunk lip. It had federal side marker lights, at least on the front.
We need to know the location, the Baur number and the owner to complete the picture. We are not there yet, but this is a huge step!
This is all great stuff! We are in your debt, Bruce!
Thank you, again!
