FS: 1979 BMW E21 Race Car

Up for sale is my 1979 BMW 320i that I have owned for the past 3 years. I started racing with this car and I think it is a great car to start out with. Last year I started building a Pro3 car and I am getting ready to finish it. I also have more cars than storage so it’s time to pass this car on. It’s been a great car to me.

What’s been so good about owning this race car is that she’s been so reliable, starting up every time (more experienced racers tell us that’s a Godsend in itself) and always around to catch the checkered flag. Secondly, her neutral set up allows for maximum cornering force making her easy to drive at the limit whether you’re a beginner or looking to lead the class among the momentum cars.

She is turnkey and ready-to-race/time trial/HPDE now. Race/class options could include SCCA ITB or Vintage, ICSCC Novice, ITB or G/H Production (w/ minor tweaks) and BMWCCA club racing.

Great pictures Bill and good luck with the sell. It would be cool if someone down in So Cal bought it, Would love to see it running down here.

What is ITB? is it a stock type class - you still have the stock bumpers on the car?

    Improved Touring B class.

the rules can be found in SCCA's rulebook section 9.1.3. http://www.scca.com/documents/2011%2...%20version.pdf

    9.1.3. IMPROVED TOURING CATEGORY
These specifications are part of the SCCA GCR and all automobiles shall conform with GCR Section 9.

    A. PURPOSE
Improved Touring classes are intended to provide the membership with the opportunity to compete in low cost cars with limited modifications, suitable for racing competition. To that end, cars will be models, as offered for sale in the United States. They will be prepared to manufac- turer’s specifications except for modifications permitted by these rules.
Cars from the previous four (4) model years and the current model year will not be eligible. No car older than a 1968 model of any listed vehicle will be accepted for Improved Touring competition. Turbocharged/Super- charged cars are not eligible for Improved Touring competition. Cars need not be eligible for state license or registration.

Did you advertise in Roundel? Would be a great spot for this car, as well on some SCCA forums.

    GLWS, looks well sorted.

I was wondering how long until this happened considering your Pro3 build. Good luck with the sale!

Thanks! Yep, as the build comes to a close it's about time to pass this car along to the next owner.

Hey Bill, are you still around? I want to buy your race car if it is still available. Need it for the 2014 race season.
