    3.0L beast

Cheap S50 would be M50 engine with M54B30 rotating assembly plus S50/S52 camshafts and you got yourself a 3.0L beast. All parts fit just fine, no machining required.

Here is my video explaining the details:

Great build...and ballsy for reusing rings, bearings and even seals . Out of curiousity when you sand the block deck with sandpaper and water, were you not afraid of the immediate occuring of rust? water into cylinder walls?

    FYI, you are correct OP
    M54B30 crank = S52 crank (forged)
    notice I underlined the B30 part...other M54 have a different crank

    good work

also, at 10.5:1 CR, 87 will work fine with no detonation..........VR6 engines have seen over 300k miles on 87oct at 10.5:1 stock compression ration

So you put m54 pistons in an m50 block?? Which crankshaft did you use? Why didn't you just use the m54 block?

I didn't even know this could be done. This is sick..

The M54 is really hard to fit in an e36.

Sounds like he bought a core m54 short block that was in good shape, removed the crank, rods & pistons and installed in the m50 block. Then cleaned up and resold the leftover m54 block.

Hey, I've been reading about m50 strokers for quite a few months now. Compared with the lack of information about m50 strokers out there, I really respect this project (especially for being on a budget like this). Really, really awesome work man, thanks for sharing it.

Yeah it can. Just don'e expext as much power as a Vanos motor becuase they could have the S50/52 cams.

But NV is so much better....lol

I think the M52B28 has a wider bore, but as far as I know the M52B25 is exactly the same bore and stroke so it should work.

Edit: Just looked it up, M52B28 has same bore but longer stroke than M50B25/ M52B25, so this should work for all of them.

Okay, new question, does an M52TUB25 head fit on an M50TUB25 block?. I'm wondering if it is possible to do make a 3.0 stroker with dual Vanos, but keep that good old bullet/ turbo proof iron block.
