I want to show you our Hillclimb car.
As you see, the basis is an E30 but now there is an 3,5l V8 inside and a gearbox from formula1 and the aerodynics changed the original style of the E30 a bit
Technical Data:
- 3.5l V8 from Indy Racing Ligeaue (IRL)
570HP @ 11300rpm
- F1 gearbox (Prost) , shifted per steering wheel controls
- race-ready weight 860Kg (because of regulations)

Wow! That is so cool.
Impressive! Just curious, but with such a large budget, why did you start with an e30?
Love the Car and the Web site - really like what you have done with the suspension. I am planning the next phase of your home grown build, 79 320/6, to include front and rear suspension mods. So always looking for pictures of what others have done, yours are way beyond what we can do, but still gets the little gray cells firing!
Thanks for posting!

@TOOLEAN
That's because when you look to the history of the team, you see that there were some E30 before that car.

And the basis is still the same, but now there is not much left from the basis. Just when you look: new tyre dimension , new suspension, new engine ...
And of course another reason is that Erich Edlinger, the driver, and many other team mates have been BMW fans and drivers in their normal life since I know them.
@OLD MAN
Of course there is always a space for developement. And you are right, it is always important to look what the others do and to stay on the same level is not good
WOW! Incredible car, thanks for showing us!
Can you let us know what size and type of tire you run? I believe Georg was running Avons with his new car (RIP)...
@lowside67
The size is 18''
At the moment we are running Avons.
Which compound and widths? I have bought some 23.5x11, 23.5x12.5 R16 Avons in the A15 compound to test with but am worried they are going to be too short now.
Sorry I am not a tyre specalist..
I only know the dimension (18'') and the widht (285mm)
But I think that experience is the most important factor when you choose the tyres. The tyres decision is not easy, but it is very important .
Awesome Build! I've been following your videos since you guys built the last blue/green E30. I love the new chassis and look forward to what you guys have planned for the future. Thanks for sharing!!

One of my favorite e30 Builds, Ive been fallowing this one for a long time. Ive taken a few ideas / concepts for my own build from that beast

Very nice to hear that you like the car
This weekend is another race for us and i will keep you informed !
saw the car in (I think) Performance BMW last year.
Very nice build.
OLD MAN.....there's not much of the original BMW left in that car, except for the roof line. BMW320IRL can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think all the body parts are carbon fiber, the tub is essentially tube-frame chassis, and the suspension is independent Aarms front and rear. So it gives you (and me) something to aim for in our build projects

Here are the results from our last race 2011 in Esthofen-St Agatha
http://www.team-edlinger.com/Events/...sification.pdf
Erich Edlinger was once again the absolutely fastest Touring car. He was more than 2 seconds faster in every run (Run time 1min 15sec) than the second placed Toruing car. In the overall classement it was the very impressive 9th place and even some F3000 and prototyps ended up behind Erich.
Next event will be: Rechberg (Austria) 27-29.4.2012
So long

Ridiculous. Akard must be salivating
it's great to have some representation from your team here... I've been watching this car from before with the previous aero/body work.
I think I remember something happening where the car set on fire, could you give us more on that story?
And also, what's the rebuild interval of the engine?

Yeah that 's right. The yellow BMW 320 IRL burnt down in Sternberk (CZ) 2009. The reason has not been founded, but the engine and the gearbox were without damage, and the most important thing was that Erich was uninjured. On closer examination we found out that the basic chassis was ok too.
So the BMW 320 IRL evo is build on the same basis, with the same engine and the same gearbox.
Yesssssssssssssssssssssss

planned improvements for 2012:
- some changes with the rear suspension

- increasing of downforce (front)
