    M3 budget slider-kraut

I had planned on building an e30 and had already bought an m52 and a shell but found an M3 and fell in love...oh how love hurts

Picked it up with zero rust and everything working but a mystery stutter...

    FINISHED! 03Jul2011

    BEGINNING

    durty pictars:

    Day 1:

new bumper moldings, lip, and some lights i had laying around

Not a fan of angel eyes but im not going to complain for now

I also had some DDM ballasts around so just put them in. I will mount them properly after i clean up the bay

Car tapped a wall on the passenger side so i needed one of deez

    done.

threw on some new rotors and pads... nothing fancy for now

then i took a crack at some body work. Ive done some pretty sweet work in the past so dont be surprised if your efforts dont turn out as nice.

    BAM... good as new

next task was to confirm my suspicions regarding the stuttering..

symptoms: occasional white smoke, stuttering, bubbles in coolant resevior when revving, and coolant on some plugs... YAY HG time.

At this point I lost a lot on the car so I might as well go broke!

my plans are MLS HG, ARP 2000 studs, 5 angle valve job, new retainers, etc etc. Looking for schrick cams at the moment but money may not allow it.

I plan on going F/I in the future so I am going to set the head up now. The bottom end will get built over winter.

Nice. It's crazy how much the interior on an e36 weighs.

I still have the e30 and need to finish the swap and get it running. I am not sure if I am going to go wide body on it now though.. i want to get the top end rebuilt on the M first

Get a heat gun and do werk on that sound deadening. It peels right off and is another ~30-35lbs easy. And subscribed..

yea i pulled the motor / trans, front end, and stripped the interior.

The part that sucks is I only get to work on the car on the weekends... so progress is slow right now but my goal is to be complete by May 1st.

Sunday funday! why not start with some dangerous material...

after a lil stop at the Ice Butler I was ready to remove 30lbs of sound deadening..

    After:

then i had to go back home and leave the car all alone in the nastiness of outdoors

Got back home and found some more goodies waiting!

no its not my new nascar shirt from summit... i had a $50 gift certificate which was running out at the end of March so it had to be spent.

    Cage padding

    Extra set of jack stands

    JDM tight multi-panel mirror

G-force 5 points... latch style because im broke status

    until next time!

Haha sadly it actually took me a minute to figure out the harnesses... But they are $60 brand new and are SFI / FIA so it works for me!
