Gleaned from the bimmernav site to program the radio to USA.
Maybe it will help to select your area... No clue if it will work for your area :-(

Turn radio off using the left navigation display radial button
    Turn radio on
Immediately press and hold the SELECT button on the navigation display for 12 seconds
After 12 seconds the radio serial number will be displayed.
Using the left and right buttons select AREA.
Using the 1 button select USA (or your area)
    Turn radio off to save.

It says 12 seconds that they documented. Try that. I do not have my car
handy to try it myself. Could be the version of the radio too. Maybe send bimmernav an email. I am sure they would know.

These are the instructions I have for entering the "service mode" for the various radio set-ups. Find yours and see if it works for your application. Good luck.

The images below are from my 99 540iT's MID display... you can see once the "service mode" is opened...I have the choice of selecting the various regions (USA/Canada/Europe/Japan/Oceania)

Sorry I can't be of any better help...I don't have the nav monitor...so I don't know how it operates.

Hopefully someone that has the wide screen nav (and knows how to access the service mode) will chime in. Or someone with a wide screen nav will "click" on your video links and see what your monitor displays...then go play with theirs and see if they get different screen prompts than you do.

Good luck...and ditto...someone please see if they can help...especially since akhn666 has posted links to videos that shows what his nav monitor is displaying.

    Maybe this link will help.
I did not read all the details but check to see if they have instructions for your type of radio.

ok guys i found sumthng from 1 of the site abt reprograming

"""No. The ability to reprogram the radio started in vehicles made in September 2009 and newer

Your 1999 E39 has the old-generation non-reprogrammable radio in it.

To make the radio work in NZ, simply exchange the Japanese radio module with the European equivalent radio module.
This is easy and relatively cheap to do, on ebay Germany the radio modules sometimes sell for as little as <$100 NZD

    PS: M means "Memory"
PPS: Service mode on the 4:3 monitor and 16:9 monitor is activated with the SELECT button
PPPS: Jap radios of the age of your car do not have a Service Mode"""

wht do u think my screen doest have Service Mode?

No idea but it makes sense, people in NZ need a other Euro radio module. (other frequency)

Did you ever get that radio frequency issue sorted? I have a 2001 E39 with the Radio Nav and have had the same exact problem when trying to get into service mode. I have Japan specs. When I try info, it goes to Traffic 1 and 2. When i use select option, i tells me Pres ON and Pres OFF. What do i have to do?

Do any of these procedures pertain to the 4:3 head unit?

It is unbelievable that this forum won’t support Imgur. Just delete this thread, it’s useless to anyone coming across it.
