    Steve's 540/6 Build Thread

    Oh Hai.
    part uno: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1541011

Just got a few solid hours work on this, and spent some time with a former master tech from BMW who attempted to help me diagnose this.
We really did not get too far. Its firing on all cylinders, but poorly. He fears a bent connecting rod or something major but wont know definitely until later this week when we compression test it.
Either way here is what i did today:

    - Discovered almost all the Alpina bits hidden under the engine cover and reconnected a bit, im still trying to figure it out.
    - M-sport mirrors
    - M-door sills.
-Pulled front door panels to reconnect the mirrors and find the tweeter wiring.
    Recently I:
    -Mtech wing installed
    -Rear hella clear tails on
    -Various panels back on
-Trunk panels and tool kit reassembled.

I still have alot of the interior to reinstall. The dash panels are out. The obc and stereo is out.
I have to literally rewire the whole damn car for music. Its good and bad. Ill be able to do really nice sound with it.
Some pictures i took today. I DO NOT like this red plate filler on this car, at all. Too much red.

    Msport Mirrors on :

    Rd sway photo:

    Bias Adjuster for the brakes:

This bolt in the oil filter housing is leaking. I dont know why its there. Something to do with the following sensor and the alpina bits:

    Engine:

Oh hurro mandatory 17inch wheels for caliper clearance. 6 piston fronts and 2 piston rears.

Hope he wasn't able to get rid of too many parts before you got it but it will be 1 hell of an e34 when you get it back together. Hell of a score. Is the mirror housing cracked? Iirc he said his daughter damaged it. A lil glass work and it should be fine. I will be following your progress.

    Very nice!

I'm sure someone with a non-red E34 would be more than willing to take the red filler plate off your hands.

I agree loose the red plate Steve. An m5 plate might be better.

^I believe he is already equipped with one on his 525. But the offer is worth the shot, maybe Steve already has a buyer for it.

Im keeping it either way. I have an m5 filler already, and will probably just get another one.

Very unique, that engine bay looks very busy. Looking at those (custom?) calipers I could not help but think 'FML' if one of them seizes.

Very nice. Perhaps you would like to some practice with taking off the mirrors too. And putting them in a box. And mailing that box with those mirrors to me.

Keep it up! Looks awesome. I'm way jealous.

I'm almost tempted to fly up to MA just to lend a hand, and say I touched it. That thing is bloody sick! Take you time, whatever you do, don't sell it, you'll never sleep soundly if you do that.

In reference to picture #6, I think the bolt is a temporary piece from when he took the Alpina sensor out. Shouldn't it have a crush washer and a flush bolt?

8 oem plugs for under 40$ . The plugs need to be changed regardless.
