    NikosX 540i 6 speed Swap Thread

    Well Gents,

    In less than 2 hours my beloved Orient 540iA will begin is transformation to a 3 pedaled beast.

    I will post pictures along the way and share some tips and important info.

    Let the mayhem begin.

    Ok gents. Exhaust is out. Driveshaft has been removed. Trans has been drained and trans cooler hoses have been removed.

    ...now for the fun part. Autofail box removal.

    So far auto trans is out. Console is out. Pedals are coming out.

    Yes, the DME will have to be reprogrammed and you can remove the tranny computer. Swapping the DME from a manual car will do you no good as it won't match the rest of your electronics like EWS, ABS, etc.

    It's going back together. Clutch is in.

    The pedal assemblies were different. What a nightmare. Talk about garage modifications.

    About to mount the manual box.

    Just did the oil stand gasket on My father-in-law's 525i. I had the new gasket on in less than 30 mins . Then proceeded to spend about an hour trying to figure out the drive belt config..thats what I get for not taking the fan out



    We now return you to your regular scheduled programming.
