I was at school one day and I left with a buddy of mine to go for a drive and fill up my tank.
Mainly went for a drive so he could see how my car pulled because of the motor swap from a 318..
Go fill up after pulling a bus on z28 camaro .. old style im thinking mid 80's..
Then on my way back I see an rsx with the type s body in my rearview and i see a cf hood and a cf trunk lid after he passes me..
Kid turns out to be from my school he tells me he's seen my car around and likes my exhaust and says " not to be a jerk but I'll roast that bmw from a 40 pull"
so im immediately tempted...
i'm in second gear at 40mph and he honks it off... right away i start pulling on him and I decide to play a game....
At 5200 rpms I shift and i continue to pull in 3rd gear..
then I shift again at 5000rpm and continue to pull...
back at school he shows me a dyno for 230whp and way lower tq..
He says he wants to run again but he doesnt know I was shifting early
As fun as it can be, next time forget sandbagging and just embarrass him.
Even with bolt-ons and k-pro RSX type-S is no match for the E36 //M stock

230whp is alot for that car... thats like 70whp more than stock?
Define "eat." Yeah, an RSX-S with all that is certainly capable of beating a stock E36 M, since those mods can propel a great driver into the 13's, but the majority of the kids that own the RSX-S barely get into the low 14's with those mods.
Here's a great example: http://www.dragtimes.com/Acura-RSX-Timeslip-6851.html
^ FULL-bolt ons, even gears. Got a 13.99, yeah. But trapped only 99. Not enough to "eat" any stock M3s by any means. And that's with great conditions, according to the slip.
and you have a 96 318 with a 330 motor in it???
Nice story.
So with your swap, is your car still badged 318is?
"On your path to progress, I'll be the only thing standing in your way."
Nice one, I love the sandbag idea. Always nice to leave a little "surprise" in there...
he has a 318 and has a s50 motor in it. It would be wrong to call the car an m3 sooo you call it a 330i , if s52 a 332i
Okay just to clear it up he swapped a M54b30 in there...NOT an s50...at all.

"The way a man treats his car, is how he treats himself."
that video is getting me in trouble.
i have a long standing fued with this kid in town. Ever since i almost took his maxima in my e30. then he moved up to an rsx type s.

Mike Vance 29 October at 15:44

Joey 29 October at 18:09 Report
nah i have a intake and catback exhaust and coilovers .. i didnt watch the vid cuz im at work but thats prob a base rsx ... is ur ms stock
Joey 29 October at 19:09 Report
lol im gonna hurt ur feelings if we race
Mike Vance 29 October at 19:14
i dont care really who wins or loses. I just want their to be an ACTUAL race. No BS excuses.
that rsx had the same mod list as your car. exhaust, same intake, some other bullshit.
dig or roll?
This is my Signature.
I think this race is very plausible even if the rsx is making 230whp. From his previous post OP's mods are
2001 m54b30 with a custom intake manifold
obd1 conversion
3.5inch maf
stock 3.91 diff from the auto 318
Nitto Invos
obd2 midpipe
long tube headers
trm tune for an s50
There are too many kids with these cars to compare times really. I kept up with one in my 325is verses a 2002 type s back in high school ironically.
Without modifications they aren't too quick, i've driven the newer model 2005-2006 and it was fun, but not fast. If this Rsx claimed 230whp he is probably running some serious high compression built etc or has some FI. I'm pretty sure a streetable rsx build isn't capable of those numbers.

+1 .. He must have some work done other than intake and exhaust to come up w 230whp.. Otherwise it's b/s..
My bro in law has 06 k20a swap in his civic.. Stage 3 skunk2 cams/ superteck valve springs/ retainers.. Rcrew header rep..and idk highflow intake mani . K pro --- tuned to 225whp.... 13.1@104 on a street tire
So there's definalty something in there to make them hp ##

You sure the dyno wasn't converted to flywheel horsepower? Or measured at the hubs?

An older civic would be much lighter than an RSX.
