Where's the DIY you promised?
Looks like a nice install. Good job. Did you do the swap yourself? If so, do you have any pics of the retrofit as it was taking place?
Very cool. Need build process pics!!!
How are you liking it? How's it feel?

I mean C ome! Do I even have to ask? I am sorry if you had a build going on over at the Swap thread or something but I (and every other 528 owner) would love to know how you sorted the electronics? I have had dreams of dropping one of those in my wagon ever since I got it. Details please? Video? and more pics! What year was your 528?

Sweet! Love it. I'm interested in the motor mounts you used.. t-56 trans? Did you have to get the drive shaft shortened?
That's very nicely done. Is that a custom bracket for the alternator?
And I'd say supercharge it and shame a few unsuspecting M5s.
all I can say is BAD A$$! More details and a video. That is a dream of mine.

"LIVEN"-taking a finely tuned performance car to it's limits. One hell of a rush
oh okayyy
Hell Yeah. I am still waiting on my 540i/6 to give up the ghost and it will be my turn for the LS swap. Very Nice and now for more affordable horsepower additions. 183,000 miles and waiting
have you dynoed it yet? it should have more then 300
Everybody's waiting! Spill the beans and make the community very happy. I'm playing the Jeopardy tune man!
Well done sir, well done. I didn't really understand why people did this to 540's but this totally makes sense to me on 528's or 530's. Looks like a clean install.

Hiya!
Apologies if I'm not as wow as many others here! my excuse is that I'm over in the UK and we don't know 'too' much about specific USA cars engines etc!
I do know the Corvette is a quick sports car and I'm assuming this engine is the 'smaller' output version? therefore, does that make the engine 'relatively' affordable? are there many examples of this engine available out there? perhaps in other cars as variants etc?
The only Corvette that sticks in my mind is the 1973 Stingray we had as a restoration a few years back, and reading about the Z06 version which I believe was like 550 hp in standard form?
Just wondering if a select few of the UK and perhaps Euro E39 guys could potentially consider doing this engine swap over here!
Always like the more unusual conversions that also are very well done and executed like this obviously is. Credit due there!
Any more info and pictures of the conversion?!
Cheers, Dennis! West London UK!
Don't quote me on the exact weight, but I think the subframe is not necessary since LS2 weights around the same as M50.
Doesn't make sense for European guys as LS engines are harder to come by, the LS2 is the same ones you got in the Vauxhall VXR, LS engines here are very common since they were available in Corvette, GTO, G8, later F-bodies (Firebird, Camaro), and you can buy crate engine from your local GM dealer even in LS7 form, and if you want to go crazy on boost, just use the LQ block, which is essentially a steel version of LS block, which is even more popular since they are truck engines.
Holy **** moarrr pics
I don't see the difference.

Nice!

thanks guys. I am at work at the moment but will post some more info and pics when I am back home this evening.
That said, allow me to comment oin the cooling system. The original M52 engine died because the previous owner neglected the cooling system. I researched for quite a while on the cooling system to use on this car. I ended up using the following parts and it works flawlessly. I encourage those who dare step outside the norm to think outside the box in fixing the endless E39 radiator wows.
parts used
Z06 corvette radiator
E30 coolant reservoir
E30 1.4 bar coolant cap.
e39 heating system retained.
radiator fits quite well
i logged the engine temp over a recent trip and here is a vid of 30 minutes of that trip. Note the ECT temp. This was on a 88 - 89 F day. The fans are controlled by the LS1 DME. I can set the temperature at which I want the fans to come on and at what speed they should run
30 minutes condesed to afew minutes
