Not really a build thread but car is now driveable. See specs below
Ls1 engine (yes I know the covers say LS2)
GTO MN12 6 spd
3" steel driveshaft
E34 M5 3.91 LSD diff
Z06 Corvette radiator, condenser and cooling fans
M5 cluster. Everything works except engine oil temp gauge
No exhaust yet.
Left to do
Mount coolant reservoir, waiting for PS hose to return from hydraulic shop, put interior back together get exhaust done, get a/c line done. Hope to close this chapter in a month

Looks great, would love to see a pic of the engine bay from the side of the car, oh yeah, underneath and everything else would be great too.

Awesome! Lets see some build pictures and more info on the swap! Looks like a great swap!

Thank you!
Did you go for the e34 M5 diff just because you wanted the shorter gear ratio than the 3.15 of the e39, or was there another reason?
Regarding the A/C lines you mentioned, is that a fairly straightforward deal with the GM compressor and the remainder of parts being stock BMW (other than the condenser maybe?
How about the cooling system adaptation from GM water pump to BMW parts?
P/S should be pretty simple with proper hoses from the hydraulic shop, huh?
Thanks in advance for answering any of these questions you're willing to! (maybe a lot of typing effort required. . . )
Thad
you are welcome.
I went with the 210mm diff because they are strong, cheap, dime a dozen in the yards and they are available in several ratios. I have to say making the brackets and getting the pinion angle perfect was a pain.
The a/c lines should be straight forward. I have not gotten to it though. I am using a corvette condenser and ls1 compressor. Most of the lines are BMW.
I stayed clear of BMW cooling system and went with a corvette radiator and dual fans. Fits awesome. See pic below.
The coolant reservoir is out of a E30.
The P/S system was straight forward. Had a line made at the local hydraulic shop. one end goes to the ls1 pump the other end goes to the E39 rack. I retained the E39 P/S cooler
let me know if I can answer other questions

That looks awesome, thanks again!
wow plenty of real state in there!!! nice work
You state you have no exhaust yet.....have you at least tried to fit headers or factory manifolds? Which oil pan did you use and how does the clearance look? Pics please if possible. Thank you. I am about to do the same thing to mine and I am in the gathering information phase before I purchase parts.
More updates, more pics please.

yes they are. you can see the mounts on each corner of the radiator. There is also a bottom mount on which the radiator sits.
Got the car from the exhaust shop yesterday and cannot stop grinning. It sounds great. I went with dual 2.5 to a single 3" via cat and out through a borla XR-1. Too bad I had to leave town as soon as I got the car
The shop that built the exhaust is a race fab shop that has 4 corner weight scales. They weighed the car for me and these were the weights (no driver, 1/2 tank of gas, some tools in the trunk)
903 l 934
863 l 884
total 3584
Not bad at all. I'll add some pics when Im back in town

Those mounts look excellent!
Do you have any thoughts of using a second bolt up through each side of the trans mount?
