As you may already know, an engine conversion project is a daunting and expensive task. Much labor, head scratching, and cash outlay to follow. When starting an engine conversion project, be sure to research first. Research and research some more. Then when ready to tackle the project, be sure to acquire and establish as many resources as possible, print, electronic, online etc. Print resources being service manual, how-to books, etc. Electronic resources being the available swap manuals on CD/DVD, service manuals on CD/DVD, etc. Online resources being the forums like this and web sites that carry parts and info for engine conversions. When it comes to forums, the last thing you want to do is blindly start posting questions about things that are easily answered in a search of various forums, manuals, etc. Electrical diagrams, engine sensors, exhaust, shifters, ABS, steering, etc are all things many others have dealt with in the past so don’t be shy with the forum search feature and don’t be afraid to glean for what others have already done and shared publicly on the forums. Get to know the advanced search feature of the forum, cuddle up with it, it is your friend. Starting new threads creating unnecessary confusion over topics that have been covered and are easily answered in a quick search is not productive for you or the next guy starting his search for answers to basic questions, nor are most car guys into spoon feeding someone that isn't wiling to make an effort to find the answers themselves, and again, no need adding unnecessary confusion over uncomplicated issues. As my best friend says to all newbs starting an engine conversion, “Some diligence required”
For those starting any engine conversion, especially with an engine other than BMW, get yourself the correct manual for the car you are working on, Bentley makes some good manuals and also acquire as many print/electronic resources on the power train and EFI/electronic system you plan to use.
For the E36 crowd, there are some invaluable resources available to you that combined with the forum, engine and car manuals will take care of 99.9% of all questions you might have.

Another invaluable resource that is well worth the price comes from the father and son team of Garret and Steve that have put together what can only be described a s the most comprehensive engine conversion manual one could imagine, wiring diagrams, part numbers etc... (Steve is an incredibly gifted draftsman, thank you both Garret and Steve for this resource). It is specific to the E30 LSx conversion but some much of the LSx info applies to other E30 or LSx conversions;

For the LSx guys, regardless of the car you are converting, the www.LS1tech.com forum is an invaluable resource for info, and parts in their classifieds section. Also, these books, covering many aspects of the LSx, even electrical EFI, ignition, oiling systems, exhaust, etc!
From someone that has been involved for over 20 years with high performance sports cars, custom engine building and machining, in-particular engine conversions with sports cars, I hope this comes as some help to budding engine swappers.

Maybe we could assembly our information in some sort of Wiki page?
A wiki would be awesome. I'm trying to post absolutely everything I do in my thread, but its easy to forget about little things.

Our CD covers everything you need to do to complete a swap. If you are doing a different platform than an E30, much of what we cover is applicable: fuel system, A/C, power steering hoses, radiator, driveshaft, throttle cable, emissions, exhaust, how to make engine mounts, how to mod an oil pan if necessary, etc.

Who is the mod of this forum? Can we get a sticky?
What are you guys doing with the blue hardline that runs with the fuel lines under the car up the the BMW "charcol canister"?
I cut mine off by the tank... but I too have been wondering...
I will probably connect it to the same breather on LS1

What about capping that line off and not worrying about it?
I just cut mine off at the tank. I'm not using that or its counterpart on the engine.
