Could be the Trunk Lock Actuator.
maybe?
Edit: and if it is http://www.bmwtips.com/tipsntricks/t...20actuator.htm

this actually work , the only issue i have is a display text "trunklid open" ... - can it be Trunk Lock Actuator issue ?
just run some BUS tests and get this ... dont know if it is related ...
"There is break in the connection to BM/MID"

mine did the same thing turns out the actuator did not fully retract so it cause the trunk lid open sensor come on. i had to push the actuator arm fully in light went off.
this maybe the issue - it happens after my wife pushed baby stroller by trunk lid
I just played with cables / diagnostic but can't really find the issue
can you show me on picture which arm are you talking about ?
I also have 33 Bowden cable, emergency unlocking
just interesting - this is in case if somebody locked inside trunk a ?

hey
forgot to tell u this. when you try to push the arm back you must first use a screwdriver and where the lock is push so it locks. then with the key in the ignition so that the door open light is on in your case the trunk then push actuator arm in then look thru the window to see when the light goes off hint when the trunk is open your trunk light should be on when u push the actuator arm in the light should go out.
inside actuator there is part that tells when the lock is close or open when the gears strip inside that no longer works and the arm may not fully retract.
I had to actually take my actuator off the car but with the wiring still hook up then play with it.....but not to long u may go blind
Bummer man.
I'd check the trunk switch (again with gusto), then try to trace the wiring to see if there has been any damage/shorting. It HAS to be something simple - this is a weird problem. The first place I'd look is anything that could have been touched and possibly damaged, then go from there.
Good luck.
this is what i did , i played with this arm which connected to actuator and checked the status thru the window ... no changes the message dont want to go away
thanks ... tried , no luck meantime ... i have feeling this is a dump actuator issue ... or maybe it is a fuse ??

The wiring harness had a a couple of cracked wires. One was broken, others had exposed wires through the wiring cover.
On the right side of the trunk, you'll have to push the wiring loom/cover up to see all of it. I was getting weird alarm triggers too.
Good luck.

cant believe ... my car is 2003 .. what the crap ...

Nice! So good to see the progression to the solution!
I'd pull a new wire to replace the broken one. Cut it in just before and after where it bends.
This was a typical problem on VWs and Audis - broken wires in the doors would prevent the windows from working. Must be cheap German wires.
yaaa i cant believe that it happens for BMW
and i know that people from this forum will help
now it's time to solve this issue ... dont want to see single issue with my Black Berry

I spliced in some wire and then used heat shrink tubing to seal it all. Will it happen again? Maybe but hopefully not for another 10 years...
Glad to hear you got it!
