Name: Cars, Coffee & Karts - Detroit

Description: Monthly car gathering at Kart2Kart in Sterling Heights on the first Saturday of every month. All cars are welcome. Please, no shenanigans.

Time: 8:00am till 11/12ish.

I think once a month is good to start, keeps people interested and makes it something to look forward to each month. Doing it every weekend gets a little boring. I say either the first or last Saturday of each month, so it's easy to remember.

The hardest part is getting the world out to the non-BMW drivers. MBworld.org and VWvortex.com are a good start. Any suggestions on reaching the Porsche crowd? I'm thinking it won't be till the Porsche guys start participating that world will spread to the Italian car owners.

As for rules: we want to make a good name for ourselves (especially to the local business owners), so most important is that we don't tolerate reckless driving at/around the meet.

anyhow, if anyone is a member on motor city audi, we should paste this on there. i can put it on the MIVE forum, im a member on there. the vortex wouldnt be a bad idea either. i know there are lots of euro guys around, unfortunately they're all hiding.

Just spoke with the manager at Caribou Coffee and she is all for it. Of course, she doesn't have jurisdiction over the lot but said that the lot seems to be fairly empty Saturday mornings and that she would love to have us there. Of course, the cops could have the final say whether we are "loitering" or not, but if we are paying customers and all act like adults, we hopefully will be fine. I guess time will tell but sounds like this is worth a shot.

Sounds cool! Kalamazoo Cars & Coffee is last saturday of the month as well, i'll definitely try to make it over to the east side a few times this summer, and I've got some friends in Detroit that would be interested as well

edit: If heading to Eph Mcnally's is involved at some point, you'll have a hard time keeping me away!

Kart 2 Kart would be fun too!

I think if we remind everyone involved that we're being allowed to have this meet - then most people will act appropriately. We can't control how everyone acts/drives; all we can do is ask that people use common sense while there. I can't imagine why any of the local business' wouldn't be pleased - a large group of people hanging out and talking cars for 3 hours on a Saturday morning are bound to need coffee and breakfast.

Dane speaks the truth. That's why it is important to have a slightly more mature crowd. I think doing it early Saturday mornings will also help in that respect.
