    Help for my headlight problem

I have the H7 halogen low beam in my headlight.

Recently the light shoot too downward and i am figuring out what is the actual reason. I know many will says that my headlight adjusters are broken.

Attached the pic for easier explain.

I parked my car as close as to the wall and marked them.

The actual light pattern when i park my car 20 feet from the wall.

I can see nothing in front of me when i cruise my car 150km/h at night!

Ok, now my question is..I want to make sure either my headlight adjusters are broken?

I have the low beam dial button (red box in pic) inside my cabin and i can adjust the low beam up and down thru the dial button.

When i use the Allen key to adjust the white screw (yellow circle in pic), there is no any response.

    +1 broken headlamp adjusters.

order new OEM ones off ebay or something

01+ headlamps and <00 lamps use different adjusters, FYI.

if its a <00 headlight you can get oem replacement adjusters rather cheap, if your lights are 01+ you can get metal adjusters.

this person speaks the truth. Well, all of these guys do. E39 headlight adjusters are notorious for breaking.

    Thanks for all reply.

How come i can adjust the low beam up and down from the dial button if the adjusters was broken? The up and down moving is not control by the adjusters?

there can still be some functionality left. but even at the highest setting the beam pattern will still be too low.

One more, my headlight is the facelift [2001+] type.

I have to dismantle the headlight to change the adjuster? No way for me to change it without open the lens?

you can cut holes to access the adjusters, but i would just bake them to release the glue

    wow...

Glad I searched again. I just bought the aluminums from eactuning for 165 shipped, but couldn't get my 03 headlights to come apart in the oven. I'm gona pull that frankenstein shiz and cut the holes out like in the m5board link above . The sausages at the end of my hands are just too big to get in there without dismantling. I'll reply with a success (i hope) within the week.

if you don't wanna do the install yourself on the 03, you can send them to Mark like I'm going to and he'll do it for you for a fee of course

I didn't trust myself too much, but hell, had to give it a shot. Didn't turn out too bad. Just have to seal the squares I cut out. I think I still have a little debris from the old broken adjusters in the assemblies, but all I care about is being able to see at night again.
