Wow, that was one of the most ignorant people I have ever heard. WTF? His first track day and treat him like that? And he didn't seem to be driving that badly either. How can he get better if not given constructive criticism?
What a tool. He didnt even give the guy one lap.

Hard to believe that's for real.
Perhaps the "instructor" was role-playing and the video is for use in an instructor training program.
Certainly hope so!

I hope that was a joke. If not, that instructor should be ashamed of himself for not communicating at all.
No in ear communicator, no feedback, no nothing. Immediate criticism.
If I were that STUDENT, I'd want another instructor anyway.

I was waiting for this to pop up here. This video pisses me off more then any I've seen on youtube in a while

Step 1: Invest in a communicator.
Step 2: Stop being a raging a**hole.
Step 3: Actually try to teach your student.
Step 1 is easy. Step 2 is the one that catches some people, preventing them from ever reaching Step 3.
At least it wasn't a BMW event.
Obviously the instructor is not really an instructor. No communicator? Strike 1....clearly does not know turn in or track out points strike 2....horrible personality.... strike 3, i'm sure we could pick out more but it was only one lap. Clearly an old retiree with a small sack....
The guy driving isn't doing too bad IMHO, especially since it's the first lap of the day.

Wow!!! Until I saw David from HOD's comment I thought it was a bad role play from an instructor training session!!
This is terrible, I feel bad for the driver. I think my first clue was when he mentioned something about "...had never worn a full face helmet before..." uhm..what!
I hope that video finds it way back to the organization that ran the event.
Wow, what a douche! There was no instructing going on there whatsoever.
I saw this a couple of days ago... I have to say that I have never seen such a universally consistent reaction to anything posted on the web; it really goes to show what a clown this guy is. As I recall, HOD is organized by at least one BMW CCA guy from the Pacific Region; I hope he takes the appropriate measures and never allows this guy in the right seat again.
As a relatively new instructor, I take this as the exact opposite of what I'm supposed to do.
If I was the driver and at VIR Full, I would have dropped him off at the South Paddock.

Wow! I've instructed many, many students at Thunderhill for 3 different groups (not HOD). Well over a thousand track miles. For a 1st time student I thought he was doing quite well. What a bonehead the instructor was. I guess he figured the student should learn by osmosis.... or ESP.
Fail!

I'm a young guy and have to say my early instructors influence my instruction techniques a lot so I feel horrible for the student.
My bet is this may have been the first student this guy has ever had.

I am shocked by the amount of disrespect shown by that instructor.
I see no possible explanation for why he should ever instruct again, or for how he became an instructor to begin with.
Watching videos such as this are incredibly frustrating. That student deserves an apology.
I can't believe that this guy is complaining so much. I think the driver is doing a damned good job on a new track and clearly being uncomfortable.
The shifts don't seem that jerky, either.
That being said, I had an "instructor" like this one my first day last season. After I put the rented Spec Miata into the tires at Autobahn, he told me I shouldn't have lifted.
That was very helpful as I was getting the bill for the damage to car!

I feel bad for the driver....not only is he under pressure doing his first track day but to have his instructor tell him he is driving like complete shit is just ridiculous.....he wasn't driving bad at all IMO
what a bitch
