So I knew I wanted some HIDs and DDM had their 55w raptors on sale for $40! So I picked up 9006 8000k's for the low beams and H1 6000k's for the fogs.
Hooked them up today and
I really need to polish the headlights and the fogs but they still project the light really well! And these pics are from my iphone so it doesn't really show how crisp the lighting is, I will get better pics w/ my real camera later.
I'm guessing the purple hue is just from the cutoff since the lights look really white/blue, no purple at all...
It's really funny that the H1 6000ks look more blue then the 9006 8000ks in the lows... Odd, in person, I can barely tell a difference between the two.
Next on my list, custom exhaust then nex coils and wheels by spring.
EDIT: NEW BETTER PICTURES

very nice more pics please, preferably against a wall
Do you get the light message on the dashboard? I should have asked before I ordered them! ;-)

8k is way purple. I use 4500 or 5k. I have 6k in my cabrio and I hate how blue they look. I can't imagine how the 8k's look.

i have 8000k's on my lows/fogs. I love them. They are pretty blueish but not purple at all. Everyone says anything past 6000k is ricer territory but i think my car looks great with dual 8000k's.
just bought myself a set of DDM's HIDs h1 55w 6000k cant wait to put them in! looks good man!
I did once when I was testing them during install. Haven't since... Plus if you do get the message, you can very easily add a resistor to the power line that tricks the computer. They are only a couple bucks and nothing to wire in.
Here is where I got them, and sorry they are DDM not DDE:

On a 35w kit, yes 8000k is way purple and I would never buy them. I've had 5000k and 6000k 35w kits in the past and they were great, white w/ blue. The 5000ks almost had a slight greenish tint to them. But with the 55w ones, the color is a lot more washed out, so 8000k isn't purple at all, they have a really nice blue hue to them. Trust me, if they looked purple at all, I would have had them pulled out by now; I HATE purple lights!
Again this comes down to if you have the 35w or 55w kit, I bet you have the 55w ones. It really does make a difference. Also sometimes different brands can make a difference; one brand might have a 6000k white w/ slight blue tint, and another brand it might be 5000k to match it. Can be a problem trying to match colors...
Thanks man - and you will love them!!
I have 55W 8000K in the lows and 35W 8000K in the fogs of the Biturbo. In truth the light sucks, compared to 6000K or better yet 4300K. It does look very cool though. Where I find it is useless is wet or new asphalt - the light jsut seems to get absorbed by the darkness of it. Price of cool I guess...
The kids:
Alpinas: 91 E34 B10 Biturbo; 91 E32 B12 5.0; 91 E34 B10 3.0 Allrad (mom's car); '91 B10 3.5
Bimmers: 91 E31 850; 93 E34 525i w/ aftermarket turbo; '01 X5 4.4; 93 E31 850i Dinan TT; 89 E32 750il Dinan TT; 92 750il w/ S70 engine and transmission
Mercedes: 92 600sel; 93 S600 Lorinser
VW: 04 Jetta GLS TDI
Ya there really isn't much room, on the PS I just mounted it to the airbox, the DS it's just ziptied near the brake lines/booster. No other place to mount it really. And as for the fogs, they are tucked over the fog light on the backside of the bumper, fit pretty good up there.
No other pictures yet...
Ya that's why I went w/ the 55w 6000k fogs. The 55w 8000ks are pretty good compared to what I had before, but the fogs really bump up the light output/visibility.
Of course the 55w 4300k would be insanely bright comparing but I will sacrifice a little light output not to have the yellowish/white color. Mine are definitely bright enough for VT back roads and if I need more light, my highs are insanely bright!
Holy crap. I'm about to order some of these.
Is it this one:

That is definitely a good price. I payed $95 shipped a year ago for my 55watt 5000k slim ballast kit. Haven't had a problem since and it sucks to drive cars without HID's.
Vehicles:
(Sold) 95' 525 - ZF320 5-speed swap, 3.46LSD rear, Raceland headers + straight pipe
(Current) 2012 Scion tC 6-spd M/T - slow
Uhm, why don't more people put them here? Please ignore the fact that I can't properly place a ballast on a sticky pad.
Excellent! Great pics! I also have a M60 (B30 tough) so it would be the same installation. Thanks for the notice on the sale and the installation tips. By the way, I ordered the 55W 4500K kit for my low beam.
