fading angel eyes
hey guys i have a 2001 e39 facelift and was wandering if anyone knows where i can get a live feed from an interior light from near the headlight switch? and how to remove the headlight switch? and what colour the wires are for the angel eyes power feed are coming out the back of the switch? as ive done the remote mod on my e36 too 15 mins and wnt to do the same on my 5

the E39 isn't that straight forward. The headlight switch feeds the Light Control Module; which, in turn digitally controls all the lights in the vehicle + more.
however, i'm not exactly sure what you're trying to accomplish. it seems like you're trying to hook the interior lights to the AE. But wouldn't the AE's go out as soon as you close a door? Also, the OEM AEs will draw anywhere from 3-10 amps of current; so, make sure the wiring is up to the task if you enjoy not having your car on fire.

i believe you need to wire in a diode for that to work the way you want it.
i'm guessing you want your angel eyes to work properly during "normal operation" but when you turn the car off and "lock" it you want the angel eyes to fade with the interior lights, and when you unlock it, for them to fade on light the interior lights correct? The problem if you tap into just the interior lights then anytime someone opens a door your angel eyes will come on. Also, not sure if turning on the parking lights would inevitably turn on the interior lights as well. I was asked a while back to look into the wiring for a customer, but just too much work for what you get out of it. Keep digging, i think someone makes a wiring harness kit out there, but im sure there are ZERO instructions for it

well thnx for ur help but ive done this mod on my brothers 5 before and all i put on was a wire and diode from the door lights like i have on the 3 that i have but i dont have any of the wire coulors or numbers anymore lol i know idiot lol but just need the wire coolours for the sidelght lives and door light live im a diag tech on peugeot so know cars but sadly not bmw much!! so wiring it up isnt a problem lol and i dnt need a kit or relay keep is simple i say lol isnt there a good wiring diagram site for bmw's ? as the principle is that i will take a feed from the interior light to send an activation feed in place od the sidelight activation on the same wire mainly becuase i use the car finder to locate my car but it only turns on interior lights not exterior thnx anyway
