Alarm sounds if I lock car
If I lock my car, the "alarm" later sounds. Could be 10 min later, could be an hour. I don't have the alarm package on the car - it would not sound if you bumped the car or moved your hand in the window. I do have Premium Package. Clown nose blinks. No chirp when lock car. If I lock the car then go into the office or a restaurant, I will always hear it going off. So basically, I can't lock my car any more.
I don't have any problem with the car locking or unlocking. I've search this board and google for the solution. Found lots about locking/unlocking probs but nothing on this specifically. My local import mechanic was not able to figure out the problem. Any thoughts on this are much appreciated!! Russ E46 2003 325i |

As far as I know, if you have the alarm "siren", you have the alarm package. The lack of a chirp when you lock the car might be a preference setting that can be turned off.
An alarm that goes off randomly like this can be from any of the intrusion sensors (door switch, hood switch, motion detector, etc). I sort of think that a scan of the car can reveal what last triggered the alarm. Having your dealer check the system may reveal the cause of this.

I pulled open the box on the ceiling and it appears that the motion sensor is there. The dealer had told me the car did not have an alarm. At any rate, I'll see what I can do about disabling the alarm. Thanks!
