not 8 related (1979 450SEL 6.9)
sorry guys I know it is not related to the 8's but I figured there may be some interest in this car as it has come up for sale recently. This weekend I am going to ebay it but I do not have the time to make up an ad or shoot new pics as of yet.
here she is and what a beauty... 1979 Mercedes 450SEL w/6.9 litre and hydropneumatic suspension. Mint condition w/17.900 miles, Blue on Blue... The owner is asking $20.000 and has just had major service front to rear (all fluids flushed/belts/x5 accumulators/michelins/valve cover gaskets/major tune+all filters/and a few expensive hard to find suspension valves) $6000 in repairs+labor... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() if anyone here is interested drop me a PM... I have plenty of pics of the car and pics of it while being serviced ect...

What a beauty!! I remember doing a roadtrip in the 80s in a brown 6.9, I even recall that it had rear reading lamps built into the c-pillar. What an exquisitely made car.

thats funny Koiz... I like the back seat better in this car myself, in fact when Erik (hhy2k) was in for some strut work I suggested he sit in the car and told him to sit in the back, LOL... I think these were mainly used as diplomat cars or a type of limo ? but one thing this particular 6.9 does not have is the rear curtain option so I am assuming it was originally purchased as a private owners vehicle.
the owner of this car has quite a few classic Mercedes in his environmentally controlled garage (must have 15+ cars in there) next in for service is a 1971 SL class, also mint and low mileage... oh the second picture (side shot) is with the suspension raised... even to me I thought it sat too high in the front but after grueling research and multiple adjustment on the ride level arms I have found this is where it is supposed to be set because of the extra engine weight. When the suspension is raised it also gets a little softer (normal operation) so the nose would dive too much in motion. In the shop on the level floor the car is level with a angle meter attached at various points...
