My AUX install, found a nice stealthy spot to hide the audio jack

So I ended up getting the BMW AUX cable for like 30 bucks, and wanted a nice clean spot to put it because I do plan to upgrade to the intravee setup once I have the 400 bucks to blow on it... but this should work in the meantime..

Anyways, i put the connector in the compartment with the sliding door and flipped it 180 degrees so the door closes up. It still fits perfect and this way the jack is hidden at the top of the comparment, and it makes a better phone holder. Checkity check it!

Where did you get the BMW Aux cable for $30? Thanks!

Good work - keep going...get the eurotray and install it there...then you can leave your ipod out of sight. Here's what I have done:

Thanks for this info! I didn't realize there was an AUX option for the nav systems. I'd like to know too where you picked it up for $30.
I checked it out online, they're $75, and will work with nav systems on vehicles with build dates through 9/02. Very happy that the build date for mine is 4/02. Looks like I'll be going this route in the near future.

I would like your help.

I just bought a 530i 2002. and would like to have an Aux input for my mp3 player. I read most of the articles. however, could not figure out where to plug the Aux cable in. is it back of the nav unit or in the radio in the boot.

plz help.

Here's what I've learned, but maybe someone else who's actually added the Aux input could offer more info. If your radio has not only the basic radio wires, plus the CD changer connector, and another connector in the other slot, then you should have the plug that plugs into the Aux connector cable in behind your Nav screen. If that plug slot on your radio is empty, you can plug the Aux cable in right there in the radio.

I know the simple aux adapter install is for cars manufactured after 9/02 only.

The aux adapter connects where the cd changer connector was. In my non-nav '03, this was on the back of the business CD unit.

What if you have a Navi with a CD Changer in the trunk?

Takes me back 4 years...I modified the armrest to fit the tilt/slide armrest base and added the tray - never did understand why US didn't get this stock.
Parts used:
Tilt / Sliding Armrest Base BMW P/N 51 16 8 196 965
Storage tray BMW P/N 51 16 8 196 967

What is the difference between 82110149390 and 82110149391?

On onlinebmwparts.com, the are both listed as "input cables" and priced the same at $29.96.

It's been done before. That compartment fits the nano 3g pretty well with a retractable plug.
