Found an 86 325es...

I'm going to go take a look at this car when I'm visiting my girlfriend's family this week. I already drive a 86 325e, so this would be a pretty nice upgrade.

So, that leaves me with a question: can my Dinan chip for my 325e be swapped into the 325es?

Also, let me know what you guys think of the car. I'm trying to get more pictures, and hopefully the is swaps are done well. If they are and everything checks out and works, I'm probably going to try and pick it up this week.

everything can be swapped, it's essentially the same car....same exact engine with some interior and suspension upgrades

overpriced though imo

Yeah, I found it to be a little bit high too, but he said he was willing to work with me on the price. I'm thinking more like $2300 would be appropriate assuming everything looks good and is maintained well. In justification for him, though, he does have a fair bit of maintenance and the shocks/springs aren't cheap. Neither is doing the plastics conversion, well, unless you do it yourself.

The price is a bit high, depending on how 'new' all of the 'new' parts are. If all the maintenance is recent (1~ year) it would be fairly priced imo.

You should check the suspension bushings etc to see if he refreshed during the upgrade. If not, that may be a significant bartering point for you. Trailing arm bushings, rear subframe bushings, control arm bushings, motor/tranny mounts, exhaust hangers etc.

It also doesn't mention anything about the condition of the brakes or clutch, two very important wear items on the car.

It also looks like the trim has been blacked out- is it OEM shadowline trim, or has it been painted? with what?

You might have some room to barter. I'd offer significantly under asking price based on the inspection of the car. It seems like you have some room to work with on the asking price.
