1999 - 2005 (E46) (1999 - 2005) Starting in 1999 the E46 3 Series picked up where the E36 left off. Larger, with smoother lines, and with more advanced engines than its predecessor, the E46 easily held the title of "Best Car of the Year" throughout its life.

my (ongoing) Umnitza HID/angel eyes experience!

Hi gang,

Been a while since I've posted. I'm doing the HID/angel eyes installation on my e46. By way of background, I've done some BMW mods in the past, mostly to my Z3coupe, including a complete interior, light package, sound package and installing a complete console and gauge package that I removed from a parted-out MCoupe. The interior and gauges were discussed and pictures shown in detail in the Z3 subforum a while back. So while I'm certainly no expert, I am at least somewhat familiar with removing, wiring and installing components.

The HID/angel eyes project has been...challenging. I am still working on getting some significant and troublesome kinks worked out. I hope to have it all resolved shortly, and I can let you know how it turns out. If all goes well, I'll post some appropriate props and pics. If not, I'll let you know that too.

It's a pretty easy, straightforward job. It helps to look up a couple of diagrams or DIY's on headlight removal though so you can see how it all comes apart and goes back together.

Demente is correct - this is an e46 job. Theoretically should be straightforward, this one has been anything but. Currently waiting on some replacement parts to arrive to go at it again.
