Need urgent help and advice I am looking at buying the following tyres:
2x Pirelli P-Zero Rosso 245x50 R18 2x Pirelli p-zero Rosso 255x45 R18 18" rims. for my 1997 E39 523i. It has 16" rims at the moment and stock type tyres. I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to tyres. Will the ones I just listed fit onto my car without hitting anything? Is it a problem that two are one size and two are another, or is that just to have bigger ones at the back? Quick advice would be appreciated as the seller wants to hear from me within a couple hours. Thank you so much ![]() |

sidewall is way too big... width is fine, but the tire is too tall
FYI i have stock style 32 17" rims and have 255-40-17 tires on the rear.

In his original post, the OP said he is getting 18" wheels. Just in case you might wanna read before you write
![]() To the question.. The width is not the issue, it's the sidewall ratio like D540i pointed out. Before you buy wheels, it's a good idea to have them test fitted, both in the front and the rear. What car did these wheels come off? The e39 has a unique center bore (74.1mm) and most other BMW wheels will not fit on our cars without modification. (I don't know about other models, but 3 series and 7 series wheels (e46 and e38) have a smaller center bore. Also, there is an offset issue when trying to put aftermarket wheels (or bored out wheels from a non e39). The front especially. If you get the wrong offset, chances are they will stick in too much or even touch your shocks in the front (my experience with e46 wheels). Either way, make sure you test fit the wheels before you hand over your hard earned money ![]() |
