Z3 (E36/7, E36/8) (1996 - 2002) In 1996 BMW added the Z3 to the lineup. First available only with the 1.9 liter engine, the Z3 went on to carry every 6 cylinder produced between 1996 and 2002. A fun, sporty little 2 seater came both in convertible and coupe form. Being a bit of a “parts bin” car, the Z3 is part E30, part E36, but all original.

I'm not surprised, it cost Nissan 2x MSRP to build each one according to this months' evo eCOTY issue. It is a supercar in plain clothes.

Then you get to the GT-R-specific automatic transmission fluid. The lists price? $114.98 per quart. Yup, you read that right. Want to know how many quarts it takes? How about 10 quarts!
We thought Castrol TWS was a little pricey.

Yeah, screw all those automated manuals!! Conventional manual FTW!

We have DSG on the GTI and the 40k miles service is several hundred bucks as well. Not the end of the world but still, it's $0 for a regular manual.

Insane prices on the fluids and the labor costs were silly expensive. That being said, so what? Even though it is just a Datsun, it is actually an exotic. It's going to cost $$$ to maintain. No surprise there. I'd rather have the Corvette ZR1 anyway, even if it did lose the run off last year with the GTR. hell, I'd rather have a run of the mill Vette over that Datsun. It's just too big. Ever stand next to one? It feels like being next to an SUV, it is so large.

At last year's sevenstock, we had my friend's R32 next to the new GTR and the thing is massive! Ridiculously expensive to own but the way I see it: If you can afford one NEW then you can afford maintenance.

It's actually relatively cheap. You can buy many other more expensive cars that won't require such expensive maintenance.

Anyone looked up the price of BMW OEM autobox fluid? List price is over a $100 per quart too. The only difference is BMW says its lifetime (which is not).

What could possibly be in this stuff; Pixie dust and Leprechaun tails?
Why is it that even *very* high end aftermarket fluids can sell for under $30 per quart?

It was the 911 turbo vs gtr vs zr1 article in Road & Track May 2008. They said the GTR "Spanks" the 2 other cars. I read the stats differently although the GTR was 5 seconds ahead of the others at Buttonwillow. It is a magical car with high cost maintenance. No my cup of tea, even if I had the $.

Last year's European top of the line Evo will beat a Lambo Murcielago on the track. I saw it happen on Top Gear. However, I think the tables would turn quickly on the Auto Bahn or the "ring".

And damn right it is LARGE. It looks even larger than it is due to the super high window sills. I saw one parked next to a '57 Chevy and the '57 looked smaller
