| 1999 - 2005 (E46) (1999 - 2005) Starting in 1999 the E46 3 Series picked up where the E36 left off. Larger, with smoother lines, and with more advanced engines than its predecessor, the E46 easily held the title of "Best Car of the Year" throughout its life. |

How can I fix this small dent between my grille?
My guess is some twat backed their tow hitch into it. Not bad at all, but it's still annoying nonetheless.
This should be a very simple fix. I can't imagine what a professional shop would use that I can't find laying around the house. Won't need a respray or anything. I was thinking a small piece of wood and a hammer... But I'm not sure. And yes I know it's dirty it's been raining for a thousand years. It's getting cleaned this Sunday morning before the leasing agents start work in an apartment complex with free water. ![]() ![]() |

I'm not much on body and fender but I had a dent and a piece of wood and a 3# sledge. There's no DIY on this because it doesn't work. Go to sears.com and get their body work dollies ($125). It took me hours with the dollies to straighten out the mess I made with the wood and hammer approach.
(Yeah, some hammerhead in a minivan pushes his bumper right into my RR quater panel. I let him live because it was Christmas Eve but I told him that he wouldn't be so lucky next time I saw him.)

I had a similar dent in that area... insurance covered it under vandalism I think and it cost $400 to get it filled and the whole hood painted. The dealership quoted me $700 and if I could go back, I would have the dealership do it. They did a good job on the outside but when you open the hood you could see some bondo since they didn't paint up around and under the hood.
The challenge that I see with that area is all the folded metal. It's going to be really tough to bend it back in without screwing up all the other folds and creases.

I had the exact dent like you. Some guy in a pickup truck was trying to squeeze into a tight parking space and backed up into my grill. I just got a paintless dent removal guy to fix it. He made it disappear and only charged me $80.
