1991 - 1999 (E36) (1991 - 1999) The first modern 3 Series, the E36, was the model that paved the way for the 3 Series to be named "Car of the Year" every year since the model was driving off showroom floors. Radically redesigned in 1992, the E36 was not the same 3 Series as the E21 and E30. Larger, less boxy in design, and equipped with a dual overhead cam engine, multilink rear suspension, and a more finished interior, the E36 balances sport with luxury.

Abs light? Thats the brakes? not sure if it will delete that.

It will delete the Air Bag Light, and it will delete the Service Light.. And reads the Air Bag Light code so you know what to change.

will it work on a 94 e36 325i obd1 no problem without buying any connectors, etc?

So with it you can also set how many miles before the oil service light goes red?

Does it display the srs codes as if the stock srs reset tool was reading them, or is it different code?

you accept paypal?

Yup it will work with obd1 bmws because it has the connector for the 20 pin under the hood.

It cant set how many miles before the oil service light.

IT displays srs codes as stock srs reset tools.

I'm sorry for being dense, but just to be clear - does it read codes as well as reset the various functions? In other words, will it give me the same repair info that a BMW tech would get by reading the codes?

It doesn't read codes, any BMW owner would be better off with a $12 INPA interface, an dthen you can reset all your warning lights, and read codes.

The DIS software Mparallel is sporting is even better, as it allows you to re-program and re-code the modules on your vehicle

Correct it dosen't read codes. Thought it would but it dosen't just resets the air bag lights/service lights.

To put it completely correct:

DIS allows you to read fault codes and reset them.
SSS/Progman reprograms/recodes modules.

Together this is the BMW GT1 system, which the yellow diagnostic head I have is.

If anyone is looking for code readers you can just get one from harbor freight for $40 (or less when they're running the 20% coupon). A piece of wire will allow you to reset the service lights...

do the harborfreight readers really read codes on cars without OBDII ?
Most of the readers read OBDII, with the rectangular connector, but what about the cars with the round 20 pin connector?

Show me one and I will buy instantly. because they clearly say:

For use with 1996 and newer vehicles

I have one, and it works fine on my '97 328. They have a rectangular connector under the dash on the driver's side. I suppose it's a common misconception that they only have the round connector.

It's like this, but it was only $42.99 when I got it last year. It reads, and clears codes fine. So far it's worked on my 328, my wifes MKIV jetta, a 2002 ford F150, '96 honda accord, and an '03 Taurus.

You are lucky, your 1997 328 has no probs, but earlier cars like the E34, E32 E30 etc. have only the 20-pin round plug, that was actually before it was all standardized by all makers, not only BMW.
Only in 2001 BMW phased out to the standardized 16 pin OBDII
connector.
All this stuff which you can buy cheap, is for standardized OBDII, but not for those prior to standardisation.

THE BMW DIAGNOSTIC CONNECTORS

THERE ARE THREE STYLES - A, B and C: BMW first installed the service lights in 1982. At that time the BMW diagnostic connector had 15 pins. In 1987, to add new options they switched to a 20 pin connector. Unfortunately it was not a clean break from the old style. Many 87 and 88's have the 15 pin "old" style connector, as they did not completely phase out the 15 pin connector until late 1988. Lastly, BMW phased out their proprietary connector entirely in 2001 in favor of a standardized 16 pin OBDII connector.

Check the following chart to determine whether you have the "A" style (15 pin) connector or the "B" style (20 pin) connector or the 16 pin "C" style connector.
http://www.peakeresearch.com/compatibility.htm

In the early 1990s the US Government mandated that all passenger cars produced 1996 and later must be equipped with the 16 pin, under dash, "C" style plug.
So BMW complied and just added the "C" connector.

But they kept the "B" connector in models up to 2000 (2003 on the Z3s) meaning many cars have both C and B.

IMPORTANT: If your car has the B connector, you must plug our tools into the B connector in order to enjoy the full range of functions! (says Peakeresearch)

Ill sell this for 80$shipped .

This is better then the regular service light reseters. because this supports AUDI, BMW, CITROEN, MERCEDES BENZ, MINI, SAAB, SEAT, SKODA, VOLKSWAGEN and VOLVO and comes with all the cable.s

It resets E46 AIR bag lights but just dosen't tell you the code. It also resets AUDI, CITROEN, MERCEDES BENZ, MINI, SAAB, SEAT, SKODA, VOLKSWAGEN and VOLVO All of these air bag lights and service lights.
