| 1991 - 1999 (E36) (1991 - 1999) The first modern 3 Series, the E36, was the model that paved the way for the 3 Series to be named "Car of the Year" every year since the model was driving off showroom floors. Radically redesigned in 1992, the E36 was not the same 3 Series as the E21 and E30. Larger, less boxy in design, and equipped with a dual overhead cam engine, multilink rear suspension, and a more finished interior, the E36 balances sport with luxury. |

Radio lock-out Code for Alpine C43 -dealer stumped
Tried posting this earlier, but it never showed up in the forum. I think perhaps I got in trouble because I had attempted to embed a picture hosted on google's picasa.
So, I'm selling a car (99 323is w/ Sport Package) for my friend. While removing his satellite radio, I disconnected the battery. Of course, only after I reconnected everything did I realize that there was no radio card in the glovebox. Easy enough, I figured. I'd just call the dealer, give them the serial, get the unlock code. I'd been down this road before (my own 98 328is came w/ a non-matching radio card)... or so I thought. My preferred local dealer (Hunterdon BMW, for those who know the area) had been very helpful the last time I needed a radio code. Much like last time, they were once again very friendly and eager to help. Problem is, this time around, the service tech explained to me that he was unable to locate any record of the serial number that I provided him. He actually mentioned that he did not even recognize the format of the number... IIRC, he had said that was expecting a 10-digit number. The radio in question is a Mexican-made Alpine head unit (OEM, of course), model C43, s/n AL 8BDU W 10 28824. I was wondering if anyone on this forum could potentially help me get to the bottom of this. I would hate to have to try to sell a car with a locked radio. I have attached a photograph of the underside of the head unit. This picture is hosted online, but I'm afraid that my post will be deleted if I attempt to link to it... can somebody fill me in on forum policy? Thanks in advance for all your help, -- Travis |

What is the deal with the 323is you're selling for your friend. Mileage / color? Is it an auto? I am in the market and have been looking, and a '99 sport package is exactly what I am looking for. I tried to PM you, but it isn't an option under your name...PM me please with info. |

Grauster,
PM sent. For anyone else who might be wondering, car is black on black manual w/ 115K on the clock. I'm available to show car Friday or Saturday by appointment, just off I-287 (exit 7) in central Jersey. -- Travis |
