Hello friends
I swapped out the OEM summer bridgestone rft's on my 328i sport with Michelin Pilot A/S+ last week. The new tires feel much nicer and generate negligible tramlining. I noticed that the tire sizes are listed as: 225/45ZR-17 255/40ZR-17 Can someone tell me what the "Z" stands for? I know what the other bits mean, but couldn't find what Z means online. Also I wanted to confirm that I should inflate these to the same tire-pressure as my oem potenza's since they're the same size. The installer had them at 3-4 psi's over suggested limit. I wanted to check they hadn't done that because of the Z or anything. thanks Srinivas |

The final letter stands for the amount of traveling speeds that the tire is capable of sustaining safely under optimal driving conditions. "The speed ratings are S for up to 112 mph, H for up to 130 mph, V for up to 150 mph, Z for 150 mph+. At high speeds, the tire can get very hot and the tread can separate from the belts. The speed ratings tell you how fast you can go and still be safe. Easy way to say it Z=go fast tires and still be safe
