2010 Midwest/Rocky Mountain/Southwest Get Together

Alright everyone after experiencing the Raleigh meet a few of us are wanting to set something up for us guys who are more centrally located. The consensus so far has been to have it here in Colorado in Colorado Springs as there are quite a few of us (Denver is easy to drive from) and we have the space to accommodate most of you who would be coming in to save you guys some money/trouble.

While you guys are out we have in my opinion some of the best roads in the U.S. (Scenic/twisty/lack of enforcement), Pikes Peak for those who want to see/drive the road (~9,000ft to 14,110ft of pavement transitioning to dirt) that is part of the second oldest race in the U.S. (behind Indy), possibly setup (I need to ask but it shouldnt be an issue) to go see a pretty nice BMW collection that includes a M1, 507, prewar 328, 850csi, E24 M6, E30 M3, Z1, and maybe a race E30 or two, nice downtown nightlife for those who want it, and space to do some wrenching for those that want too.

If any of you just want to fly in to hang out like Nick and I did for the Raleigh meet we would have no issue picking you guys up.

P.S. For those guys in Texas its not a far drive up I have done it pretty regularly and you guys should def come.

DATE: June 4,5,6 and your welcome to come a little early and stay a little late.

CARAVANS

East coasters: There is a caravan being put together that you may be able to join in just post up if your interested.
West coasters: We need some of you!

I would definitely be interested, barring school and or work commitments. Heck, I'm trying to get a summer internship in Denver anyways, maybe it will work out great!

PS I may make it out there in January, if I do I will definitely let you guys know!

Also, Greg, did you ever complete your little carbon fiber sun roof project that I sent you that sun roof for?

Sweet yea you should make it out man if your here in January let me know and we can go do something.

Where are you looking to work?

Funny you mention that, the sunroof has been on hold for a while because I haven't had much time but now that a few things have changed I have lots of free time lol, I actually brought it into work today to look at making a form for it.

Edit: I also need to build Kris (E34nication) a radio blanking plate, need to go grab nicks old dash cover tonight or tomorrow and get going on that as well.

If we can get a date set in, I could make some arangements to get out of work for then.

Colorado area sounds really good to me! Amazing roads and I have friends out in that area I have not seen in a long time! Let's make this happen!!!!

Thinking to get people some more time we should try to get it around a holiday like memorial day? This would be early summer weather should be good. So I am thinking may 29th 30th 31st? As the main days at least. Not sure if you are going to be busy with family so lets start getting dates on the table.

I am really hoping to make it out there, my brother has been there for almost 3 years now and I still haven't visited him I need to go skiing too!

As far as work, I'm looking anywhere and everywhere for a mechanical engineering internship. I have a broad range of interests so really any kind of job would be awesome!

Good luck with the sunroof! I hope it works out well for you.
Oh, and btw, I'm interested in CF work too

If I go out in January it is going to be either the 1st-5th, or sometime during between 8th-15th. I will be in Chicago on the 6th for the Iowa State-Duke basketball game (go Cyclones!) and then I start school again on the 18th so I would have to make it back before that weekend. Too bad we wouldn't be there at the same time!!

Thank you! The economy did really hurt it. Last year I was assured an internship, but about a month before it started it was pulled out from under me

My brother is in Littleton, I'm sure regardless of whether or not I can make it, he can.

The only problem that I have with holiday weekends, is that if we do some spirited driving there WILL be more police on patrol, as well as more people to avoid because of travelers.

Plus Bimmerfest is the beginning of May and I will be driving to that, and would like to save up some more time before asking another 3 or 4 days off work

Any dates are good. Since it is going to be a local event. Just have to hope we do not have the usual winter weather in Jan that may limit some of the drives into West CO.

Yep, Colorado Springs was rated #2 for creative revenue collecting in 2008.

I was figuring that most the roads we would be driving are pretty empty. Anyways middle of june sometime? Only reason I was trying to do a holiday was to get alittle more time for people.

Holidays also mean more family commitments for some people. Just a thought...
