1999 - 2005 (E46) (1999 - 2005) Starting in 1999 the E46 3 Series picked up where the E36 left off. Larger, with smoother lines, and with more advanced engines than its predecessor, the E46 easily held the title of "Best Car of the Year" throughout its life.

Heading to Afghanistan
Hey guys, I hope I can get on the net over there to keep up with you guys. I'm leaving on a deployment for Afghanistan. I'm leaving the bimmer in my garage. I was going to just unplug the battery terminal. Do you guys have any pointers on how I should store it or what to look for and do when I return to drive it again? Thanks guys.

You should drive your BMW to my place where it can be properly tucked into bed each night.

Best of luck, Jordan. Be safe, be well. And yeah, if you want, I'm sure dane will watch over your car very well. But if you want to keep it close to home and if it won't be driven, put it up on blocks, off the tires, and disconnect the terminals. There's an entire process that will keep your car in good shape while you're gone. I forget all the steps, but I'll bet google will show you. Better strategy, IMO, is to ask a trusted friend to drive it and get the oil hot once or twice a month, just to keep things moving. Thanks for your service to all of us in the U.S.A.

Thanks for the offer I wish I had time to get it up there. I'm leaving tomorrow at 2300. My wife said she would go out to the garage and check on her each night.


Thanks to everyone for the well-wishes and advice. If I happen to get some type of connection over there I'll send some pics with my laptop.
