520 2002 touring with eager rear window washer pump
Hi
while I was out driving yesterday I looked in the rear view mirror and realized that the window was being flushed constantly. I tried to shut of the engine, but no changes, turning the ignition of fortunately shuts the pump down, but when turning it on again the pump started again. I can operate the front window washer fine while the rear is running, and wipers front/back is also function okay. To temporarily solve the problem I tried to pull out on of the switches on the back end of the car which should control this with no luck, but the switch located back also had a reference to one of the switches in front (glove compartment). After extracting fuse no 43 it has stopped temporarily, but restarts whenever I put the switch back. From the "switch diagram" switch 43 controls onboard diag. , telephony and radio. Anyone got any Ideas? It's seems like there is a separate pump for the rear view window and this is stuck in "on" position somehow, could it be a short circuit in the pump or the wiring leading into it. Or has the "brain" anything to do with this? Last edited by Trond1970; 11-10-2009 at 06:25 PM.. Reason: wrong spelling |

It's a fairly direct route from the button back to the washer pump. I suspect either the switch is shorted out or there is something wrong with the pump itself. Regardless, it's receiving the signal to spray from somewhere.
