1999 - 2005 (E46) (1999 - 2005) Starting in 1999 the E46 3 Series picked up where the E36 left off. Larger, with smoother lines, and with more advanced engines than its predecessor, the E46 easily held the title of "Best Car of the Year" throughout its life.

Stett Performance Headers! Anyone got em? used em? heard em? seen em?

These peticularly..... http://www.shop.stettperformance.com...7&categoryId=4

I seen a post about Stett Performance headers from "AdamBath". I searched and only found his thread about them being in his backyard. Has anyone used these? Know someone that used em? I'm thinking about doing these instead of ebay headers. I wanted to see if anyone here had experience with Stett Performance or these headers before i e-mailed them for some higher res pictures or gave them a call. Or if all else, i might make a trip down to plano and visit them myself and give my input, not totally sure yet. Its only 3 hours away. Thanks!

According to who? I know of one person locally who has these, though I don't know how he feels about them, never asked him. I've been able to check them out in person, and definitely will be buying them instead of the ebay headers(which I also had, and won't do again).

sloppy work is not soldering connections and using pinch plugs
sloppy is wanting to cut into interior framing to make things clear instead of replacing the issue part

Been a while since I posted last but Ebay headers are actually prolly your best bet. Depending on the seller alot of guys on fanatics have run them with success and they are cheap. Less than 200 bucks. DTM also has a set for 250, but I don't know anything about them.

Several of those guys have also complained of exhaust leaks in their long term follow ups. Ebay headers are a gamble. Not worth it to me personally.

I was planning on the ebay headers, but then i found these guys, and it seemed like it was heavier Stainless. Figured maybe the welds might be a little better. Less of a chance of leaks in the future. Do i have to use the gaskets with the heat shield or are there other options for a 330? OEM and pelican say thats the only one.

Not worried about emissions. Oklahoma and IL both dont care about emissions, and those are the only two states i would have my car registered in. If i move to another state i'd probably try and keep my registration in OK, less tint laws, no front license plate, no emission testing, and its like $20 to renew my registration every year.

Those headers visually don't seem to be any better or worse then the eBay headers. If your worried about the eBay header cracking or leaking remember that its at big 50 bucks, not 250. For the difference in price I'm going to go with the eBay header give it a couple coats with high intensity heat paint, thermal wrap, and call it a day, its going to cost me maybe 75-90 bucks, if and when it cracks I pull it off chuck it in the garbage or make a towel rack out of it and buy new ones. Can't go wrong with those eBay headers.
